Re: BBF Top 10 Poll Thread
Is it really that ridiculous though? We have two common opponents: Miami and Oklahoma. We beat both of those teams by bigger margins, Oklahoma by 3.5 times as much as K-State at the same venue. Plus our win over Stanford is better than any other victory for Kansas State. We also haven't played a team as bad as Missouri State, North Texas or Kansas. Kansas State started out ranked higher (deservedly so) and thats why they are #1. Your really going to sit here and say they have a better resume than us? Style points sure, but against teams in West Virginia/Texas Tech with terrible defenses, and wins that really aren't that much better than beating Michigan if at all. I have zero problem with K-State being #1, they've looked damn good, but if you look at the resumes its more logical than ridiculous. If all 3 teams go unbeaten I would have zero issue with K-State going in ahead of us, I've said this all along, but its a lot closer than a lot of you want to admit.

Re: BBF Top 10 Poll Thread
Texas Tech doesn't have a terrible defense. And your argument is flawed because it only focuses on Notre Dame's best games (which are even with K-State's best games). Yes even. First of all, K-State actually had a bigger margin of victory over Miami, and Soldier Field is a home game for ND, no neutral crap. Your margin of victory over Oklahoma was bigger, okay fine. Was that really an INT by Manti Te'o? If that gets ruled incomplete does that maybe change the margin of victory a little? How about if Riddick just gets a first down with a minute left instead of scoring a TD? So as I said: their highs are even.
So now we're on to low points. 20-20 tie to Pitt, 17-14 to BYU, 20-17 to Purdue. All of these games were at home. For K-State? 27-21 at ISU, 23-10 at TCU, 35-21 against North Texas. Starting to get the point? With the exception of UNT, who they beat by 14 (and who scored the last TD of the game), those opponents are better, and K-State beat them much more convincingly. It's not "style points", it's valuing the worst performances as much as the best performances. There's a reason Sagarin makes K-State a 3 point favorite over Notre Dame and by the way, also says have identical schedules. |

Re: BBF Top 10 Poll Thread
Texas Tech's defensive numbers are flawed by playing an absolute garbage schedule OOC: Holding Northwestern State to 6, Texas State to 10 and New Mexico to 14. They have surrendered point totals of 41, 31, 55, 53 and 34 (to the worst major conference football team in America, Kansas) in conference. Thats an average of 43 points a game over their last 5 games, they are not a good defense, not by any stretch.
You're really bringing in the what if game? You're better than that. It was ruled an interception and Riddick scored a TD. Take all that away and ND still doubles the margin of victory. Purdue/Pitt were bad looks for us. We beat BYU with Tommy Rees as our QB, still should've beaten them by more, but that game is nowhere near as close with Golson playing. ND has played far better on the road than they have at home this year. I still do not see how you perceive ranking ND ahead of them as ridiculous, even with equal resumes. It's a different opinion from most, admittedly biased, but ridiculous? Nah, not at all. |

Re: BBF Top 10 Poll Thread
They AREN'T equal resumes. Their highs are equal, their lows are NOT equal. The worst that K-State gets is much much much better than the worst that Notre Dame gets. This is why Sagarin has K-State 3 point favorites despite the same record against essentially the same schedule.

Re: BBF Top 10 Poll Thread
Kansas St. is allowing under 100 ypg on the ground and held Oklahoma to 19 in Norman. Oregon allowed more points to Arkansas St. than Kansas St. has to any opponent all year. Shutting out Arizona was impressive, but nothing else that D has done has really been worth noting.
