Mack Brown is still screwing Major Applewhite over even after all these years.

Re: Who will be the next Texas coach?
I saw that Mack recruited RG3 and Johnny Football as safeties because he had David Ash and Colt's younger brother. Ouch. Don't know why he wouldn't look at RG3 as a QB, especially after VY, but for Jack-Be-Nimble it no doubt had to do with his height because Manziel's production was disgusting. Manziel was a National Player of the Year. How tall was Colt, by the way?
Mack is senile. No fighting it now. |

Re: Who will be the next Texas coach?
Guess I'll just make this the HC rumor post.

Arkansas can pay more, but I don't think it's a better job than TCU for Patterson. TCU is young, he should stay to win a Big 12 title and then by then maybe Texas or Oklahoma will be open. By the way: Better job, Arkansas or Auburn? Both are probably battling for the 7th best job in the conference, but Auburn won a national title more recently. Re: Who will be the next Texas coach?
Better argument would be where the level of irrational expectation would be higher. At Auburn they expect you to be better than Alabama and LSU, but at Arkansas you've got to deal with every bat ass crazy mutha in an entire state.

Re: Who will be the next Texas coach?
I think Auburn understands the limitations. They'll want a national title contender every 4 years or so, but they aren't completely insane. Especially considering how historically good both LSU and Alabama are right now. Arkansas probably has lower expectations, but a stupider fan base.

Re: Who will be the next Texas coach?
Petrino would be perfect at Kentucky. He can make them competitive, and as long that happens, everyone will look away from most potential distractions. After a few years and maybe a surprise 8-9 win season, he'll go somewhere else. They'll be happy with bowl eligibility there.
Louisville's AD recently said he would be willing to make Charlie Strong the highest paid coach in college football in order to keep him. I wonder if that has anything to do with Arkansas saying that Strong won't enter the mix? Mack might be on the outs anyways, but another loss to Iowa State this weekend will seal the deal.

Louisville's AD is either full of shit, or has been assured by boosters that they will pay $6 million a year. Louisville doesn't have that kind of money, and what they do have is probably going to Pitino. But if true, what awesome news for Strong. He can just sit back and collect a huge check while waiting for one of the top 5-10 program jobs to open up. |

Louisville has the Papa John guy don't they? I mean if Papa John is happy with his football coach he can bust out the checkbook.
