Re: 2012-2013 Coaching Carousel
Badger twittersphere is reporting that Doeren's buyout at NC State is 3.5 million. That's a lot of money when there could be other good candidates out there.
Please not Brad Childress or Bill Callahan. EDITS: Mel Tucker, Jacksonville Jags defensive coordinator (and Wisconsin alum who was on the 1994 Rose Bowl winning team under Barry Alvarez), and WKU's Willie Taggart are getting interviews apparently. I guess Tucker was a bomb ass recruiter under Saban at LSU and Tressel at tOSU. Starting to get excited, yo. I think both of them are upgrades over Bielema (especially Tucker). Re: 2012-2013 Coaching Carousel
That is so awesome. Names that I've seen associated with the Wisconsin job in the last 30 hours (and from credible sources, not just people saying "what about ___?"):
Paul Chryst, Dave Doeren, Mel Tucker, Willie Taggart, Darrell Bevell, Al Golden, and the obligatory Chris Petersen rumor. Other names I expect to get in the mix: Bob Diaco and Tom Clements. (Remember, Alvarez came from Notre Dame) I hate this. At least I'd be fine with any of those guys and I'm sure Taggart is a guy who would take it without question. |

Re: 2012-2013 Coaching Carousel
I doubt Peterson is taking the Wisconsin job. My guess is it will be between Chryst, Taggart, Bevell and Golden.
I have a couple friends who are die-hard UT fans, they were telling me how Gruden was a possibility two weeks ago, and now they are still acting like UT is above Petrino, who is their only not terrible option left. I get his history and that they just dealt with Kiffin/Dooley, but whoever else they hire will be in way over their heads in the SEC. What a terrible situation to be in. |

Re: 2012-2013 Coaching Carousel
I think Tennessee might think about hiring Fulmer at this point. I'd interview him if I was them.
Mel Tucker is the guy you left off the Wisconsin list. I don't think Al Golden is a serious candidate. As was said on another message board, Alvarez and Shalala are pals. I think she hired him at Wisconsin. |

Re: 2012-2013 Coaching Carousel
I hope they dont start mentioning Chavis for the Tennessee job.

Re: 2012-2013 Coaching Carousel
I've heard his name mentioned. Not by anyone credible though. I don't get why they aren't making a play for Dantonio. He seems like such an obvious hire to me.

Re: 2012-2013 Coaching Carousel
The arrogance and unwillingness to accept the present day reality of Tennessee continues to crack me up. All these pipe dreams that they think they're getting even though all of them already have better jobs. They're not getting Jon Gruden, Bob Stoops, Jimbo Fisher, Charlie Strong, Mike Gundy, Gary Patterson, heck it doesn't even look like they can get Larry Fedora. They'll be lucky to get Butch Jones, one of the few guys that actually lost to Dooley.
