Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham will leave the Bulldogs to take the same position at Louisville, coach Mark Richt confirmed Sunday.

Grantham will receive a five-year guaranteed contract worth $1 million per year, according to a source.

Grantham was defensive coordinator at Georgia for four seasons, installing a 3-4 scheme Jarvis Jones that led to increased sacks and takeaways.
Our top two targets are Alabama DC Kirby Smart and FSU DC Jeremy Pruitt. If they say no, we may look at the Mississippi State and Houston DC's or promote from within.

I know.

Can Vandy really be Stanford east though? I would hold out.

Vanderbilt has deep pockets from being a private school + TV money and were able to offer James Franklin $4M/year.

All you have to do is win eight games and you'll get mentioned for top ten jobs. Stanford also just lost a ton of underclassmen. Probably a good time to make the move.

Re: 2014 Coaching Hires

He realized they weren't going to make the playoff next year like Dan predicted so he got out of Dodge. Not a bad gig if he wants to try his hand at head coach, but I think he could have held out for better. He is pretty close to Narduzzi level.

That's the thing, though. Are jobs that are that much better than Vanderbilt really hiring guys with no HC experience in 2014?

Of the coaches near the Top 25 that were hired with no HC experience, half came from national title winning staffs (Muschamp, Richt, Pelini, Stoops) and the rest were internal promotions (Helfrich, Swinney, Gundy, Shaw, Fisher). Mixed bag.

Dabo Swinney just got a new deal. Eight years, $27.15 million, fully guaranteed if fired any time in the next three seasons.
