Roy Williams wins COY
This is Roy's second Coach of the Year honor. I don't mind the award going to Roy, but I thought guys like Ben Howland, Thad Matta, and Bruce Pearl deserved it just a bit more than he did. Roy did do a great job however, and his run with a bunch of freshman should be noticed.

Congrats
I really like Coach Williams and the way he views the game. Carolina probably has the top recruiting class next year. Look forward to watching the Heels play next year.
Yes, another one!

Re: Roy Williams wins COY
i dont think he deserved it at all. He may have young team but there are plenty of young teams like LSU and UCLA going much much further into the tournament and having better seasons. The only reason Roy got the award is because he coaches an ACC team and has been hyped up all year because of Hansborough and crew and the fact that his title team from last year lost a lot of players. But they still had tons of talented players on their team.
Was this voting done before the tournament began? At least then i could understand the selection a bit more.

Re: Roy Williams wins COY
yes, the award is based on what happened the entire year, not what happened in the tournament. to say it was not deserved is silly.

Are you kidding me? How many game minutes of experience did he have returning? How many coaches have ever lost their top 7 players? For the "tons of talented players" on the team, two former walkons started most of the year. Go read how posters on here and the "experts" at ESPN and Sports Illustrated completely wrote them off this year and didn't even think they would make the tournament. That they not only made the tournament, but made it to the 2nd round, is nothing short of amazing.

Re: Roy Williams wins COY
I thought Bruce Pearl was a tad more deserving, but Roy also did a great job. No biggie.
