Conference Attendance
Based on NCAA statistics, the CAA again ranked 15th out of 31 D-I conferences in average home attendance (3,477) in 2002-03. This is an increase of 8 per home game from the 2001-02 season. ODU (5,910) & UNCW (5,814) ranked 95th & 97th, respectively, out of 325 D-I schools. ODU had the 8th highest increase in average home attendance (2,650) in D-I. The AE ranked 30th (1,303) in average home attendance.
In 2003, the CAA ranked 13th out of 30 D-1 conferences (which hold conference tourneys) in average attendance per tourney session - 4,498 (22,488 for 5 sessions). This is an increase of 9 per tourney session from 2002 when the CAA ranked 17th in average attendance per session. The AE ranked last in both total tourney attendance (5,610) & average attendance per session (1,403). The MEAC, which plays its tourney at the Richmond Coliseum after the CAA, drew 34,101 for 9 sessions, or 3,789 per session.
