I paid $10 to be a premium member a couple of years ago.

It automatically renewed and took another $10 from my bank account a year later. I'm fine with that happening once, but I don't want it to happen again.

How do I set it so that it doesn't automatically renew?

You can't. Verticalscope now owns you and your bank account.

I'm not a mod, I don't have my own forum, and I haven't even changed my original free avatar. The subscription is more a donation. But with the ads and all, it really doesn't seem neccessary.

exactly, it's a donation to keep the site running. You just get the extra privilege to change your avatar and get your own forum.

You have to do it through paypal. There should be an option on their site.
