With how many people have come together under the idea of improving the place over the last few days, I think we'll be able to keep new posters entertained enough to come back.

I got my cousin BobStackhouse42 to join this site because of the SIM leagues, but almost every time I see him he tells me about how he wishes the forum was more accessible to someone with his basketball knowledge and about how he wishes he had some incentive to make it part of his daily routine. We've got to be able to reach the casual fans better.

Yea. Not sure what the idea would be, but I think most of us would classify under the "hardcore" level and not casual, so it may scare some people away.

OK I see what you are saying. I agree with R-Star and would say we are mostly hard-core and very knowledgeable.

What specifically would he want to see here?

I think as well as posting big in depth discussions, we've got to have these little threads that won't garner huge discussion, but will get a few comments from people who find them interesting. Things like just posting threads for special dunks, and little games like Basel's best player to wear # threads. It's going to take an effort from pretty much every member here who wants the site to grow to post in nearly all threads, and joining in non-flaming discussions when they have the time.

Not enough. Basically, he watches the playoffs and none of the regular season and he knows the players from NBA 2K video games and that's it. I tell him to just come vote in the polls or just look at the video games section, but I think he would be the type of person who would benefit from a little social media integration.

I can see some of the more casual fans being intimidated, some posters here are so deep-down hard core that they intimidate me! Some people here really know their stuff.

Agreed.

I'm trying to remember back to when I first joined since I was just getting into the NBA at the time. I think easy going threads like the stuff you mentioned would help.

Resetting rep and having it increase at realistic levels would be nice. Seems like posters are either maxed out on rep or have little to none. Might get that whole system going again.

I don't even know what the green bars by my rep mean.
