We may get to see it if both teams make it to the title game, but for now, we'll have to be content to debate.

Obviously, the two have drawn comparisons because they're both big, white guys. They both can score. They're both team leaders. (The Larry Bird references have started, of course.)

My questions are these: Are they really that similar? Which one will be the better pro?

Love has better offensive moves, gets better position for rebounds, and is a superior passer. Hansbrough might trump Love in everything except passing in the college game (he scores more because he doesn't need moves, he can jump higher than Love, so might be a better college rebounder), but his strengths there don't translate to the NBA (he WILL need moves and he will be one of the shortest guys in the post).

College: I think it's a tossup, but before they meet in the title game I'll say Hansbrough.

Pros: Unquestionably Love.

tyler hansbrough at best will be a haslem/corliss williamson type. i have more faith in love, he reminds me of a smaller, less athletic but better shooting brad miller

Love has the size advantage, and Hansborough has the athleticism advantage. But Love can do some things Tyler can't, and being a fan of Love's, I think Love is better.

On the college level: Hansbrough
On the Pro level: Love


Hansbrough is a better athlete and hustles harder than any other player in the country. When it comes down to the skill parts of the game Love is superior to Hansbrough.

Oh do tell how Love's game is going to translate that well in the pros. Love uses his body well to get shots in the lane, unfortunately in the NBA thats not gonna fly either. And yes Tyler is the superior athlete, I am not just talking about dunking, all those off handed shots he makes not only show strength but really good body control too. How many times does he get fouled and still manages to get the ball in the hoop.

No doubt Love is the superior passer, and he has more range on his shot, but Love won't be able to guard his position on the pro level. Hansbrough is actually a pretty good defender. I think Tyler is going to be a fine pro because of his superior work ethic. Will he be better than Love, that I don't know. I don't really see either becoming all stars

Ehhhh.... I think Hansbrough will be a valuable bench guy in the pros. I think he can get hustle points and rebounds which are always valuable.

Love on the other hand, I think can start in the pros. His passing, strength and positioning for rebounds, and back to the basket game show that he has the talent. I don't know if his defense and pedestrian athleticism will allow him to play big time starter minutes, but I see him as more of a starter at the next level who gets spelled by a defensive specialist when the situation calls for it.

Not really sure either of them is a bonafide "crunch time" player at the next level to be honest, but only time will tell.
