Everyone else has their own random thought thread, so I might as well conform.

Glad to see that the Penguins have taken the start of this season seriously. They are playing like the defending Cup champs despite the mounting injuries.

Lance Stephenson is the real deal. He is going to shoot up the draft boards and lead UC pretty far this season.

All of the newer cartoon versions of Scooby Doo suck

Saw a license plate today that was HESAVES. One of my sons asked me what it meant, so I told him that driver was probably a goalie.

2009 was a good sports year for me. It started off rough with the Bearcats losing in embarrassing fashion to the Va Tech in the Orange Bowl. Then the Steelers won the Superbowl and the Penguins won the Stanley Cup. That was followed up by the Bearcats going 12-0 and being ranked in the top 5 in the polls. Plus the Bearcats mens basketball team has played well to start the 2009-2010 season.

On the downside, the Bearcats basketball team faded down the stretch of the 2008-2009 season and failed to make any post season tournaments. Also, the Pirates suffered through their 17th consecutive losing season, a North American pro sports franchise record of futility.

2010 started off with an even more embarrassing bowl game loss and the Steelers failing to make the playoffs.

So, what kind of changes do you expect the Steelers to make? 3/4 secondary make over? Upgrade Farrior, or move on from Hampton?

What would you do? Or want.

It is difficult to judge the D because they played so many games without Troy. I was impressed with the way the D responded at the end of the second Ravens game, but then they played poorly against Miami.

They drafted 2 CB's and neither made an impact. First round pick Ziggy Hood took a long time to get the system, but he finally started to make an impact in the Ravens game. If he can keep improving and play opposite Aaron Smith next season, I'll feel good about the D-Line even with Hampton slipping.

In the LB core, Timmons didn't have the impact I was expecting. I think Farrior will be fine for next season if Timmons steps up and plays as dynamically as he is capable of.

I want to see a Nose Tackle drafted in the first 3 rounds and a vet CB signed as a free agent. McFadden isn't a great CB, but he was effective and was clearly missed.

The O-line is my biggest concern, even with as poorly as the D played.

In all my time at bbb, I've only had 2 active players in my avatar. The first was Greg Oden pre-draft and we saw what happened to him. At the end of last year, I put up this avatar with Holmes' Super Bowl winning catch and look what happened to him.

I guess if my word association game can be dusted off, so can this thread.

1) The refs in Game 5 of the Pacers - Heat series were completely gutless and should be banned from the rest of the playoffs.

2) It has been almost a month and I still can't believe the Steelers got so lucky in the draft.

3) Realignment in college sports is sickening and maddening.

4) Fire Avery Johnson

5) I'm not predicting it, but I won't be surprised if the Spurs sweep the Thunder.
