GREENVILLE, S.C., August 22 – The NBA Development League will be well represented on the USA Basketball Men’s World Championship Qualifying Team. Six of the 12 players and two assistant coaches have ties to the D-League.
Tang Hamilton and Ron Slay, from Fayetteville and Tulsa respectively, both competed in the D-League last season, while Lynn Greer, Kris Lang, Marque Perry and Alex Scales all competed in the league over the last three seasons.
Also representing the D-League are WQC Team assistant coaches Joey Meyer and Dennis Johnson. Meyer is currently the head coach of the Tulsa 66ers, while Johnson was named head coach of the Austin Toros on Friday after spending last season coaching the Florida Flame. Meyer has coached the last two D-League championship teams.
