44 Former D-League Players Highlight 2007-08 NBA Opening Day Rosters

EW YORK, October 30, 2007 - An all-time high 44 NBA Development League alumni highlight 2007-08 NBA opening day rosters. The 44 former D-Leaguers on NBA opening day rosters account for 10 percent of players currently in the NBA and surpasses the previous high of 35 featured on 2006-07 NBA start-of-season rosters.

Of the 44 former D-League players currently in the NBA, six will likely be members of their team's starting five, including Rafer Alston (Houston Rockets), Kelenna Azubuike (Golden State Warriors), Chuck Hayes (Houston Rockets), Anthony Johnson (Atlanta Hawks), Martell Webster (Portland Trailblazers) and Dorell Wright (Miami Heat).

Entering its seventh season, the NBA Development League - the NBA's minor league established to develop talent across all disciplines for the NBA - has relocated its headquarters from Greenville, S.C. to New York City to help foster the D-League's continued growth by giving it direct access to the support and resources of the NBA and WNBA. During the 2006-07 season, 19 NBA teams assigned 24 players to D-League rosters, and 14 NBA teams called-up 16 players ('Gatorade Call-ups') while 31 D-League alumni participated in the NBA Playoffs. Additionally, every referee hired by the NBA since 2002 has worked in the D-League, while coaches, athletic trainers and front office executives are also being developed. The 2007-08 NBA season will also include the first-ever D-League coach to be promoted to the NBA with Sam Vincent taking over head coaching duties for the Charlotte Bobcats.

14ers Tab Colorado Native Gill Number One Overall

NEW YORK, NOV. 1,2007 - Eddie Gill who participated in training camp with the New Jersey Nets was selected by the Colorado 14ers with the top pick in the 2007 NBA Development League draft, currently underway at NBA Entertainment Studios in Secaucus, NJ. Gill, a five year NBA veteran has played with New Jersey, Memphis, Portland and Indiana and will be one of 16 or 17 players in the 14ers training camp beginning Nov. 11.
Carlos Powell was chosen second overall by the Dakota Wizards. The 6-7, 220 pound forward who attended South Carolina was recently cut by the Golden State Warriors after a standout international career.

Darvin Ham, who spent eight seasons in the NBA and won a championship with the Detroit Pistons in 2004 was drafted third by the Albuquerque Thunderbirds, followed by Jamaal Tatum, a 6'2" guard who went to the Idaho Stampede. C.J. Watson, who spent the 2007-08 preseason with the Charlotte Bobcats was the fifth pick of the 2007 D-League draft by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

The ten players selected by each team in the draft will combine with the six to seven players already assigned via allocation, local tryouts or players returning from the previous season. The rosters for each of the 14 teams will be cut to 12 players on Nov. 14. Final 10-man rosters must be set by Nov. 21.

Each team will play one preseason game between Nov. 15 and 20 before the D-League regular season tips off on Nov. 23.

Results of rounds two through 10 of the 2007 NBA Development League Draft will be announced later this evening.

Sioux Falls, S.D. (October 30, 2007) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that five former players made 2007-08 NBA opening day rosters. A total of ten former Skyforce players were invited to NBA training camps at the beginning of October.

Idaho making an impact on NBA opening day



BOISE, Idaho (October 30, 2007) - Your Idaho Stampede announce that seven former players made 2007-08 NBA opening day rosters. A total of ten former Stampede players were invited to NBA training camps at the beginning of October.
In addition, former Stampede head coach Larry Krystkowiak is entering his first full season as the Milwaukee Bucks head coach, joined by former Stampede assistant coach Jason Staudt as the Bucks video coordinator. Former Idaho head coach Rory White is on the L.A. Clippers coaching staff as well.

Utah Flash Announce 2007-08 Television Schedule



PROVO, Utah, October 30, 2007 - The Utah Flash announced today that all 24 of its inaugural season home games will be televised by THE FAN, Utah's Super Sports Network, on KJZZ-TV or on Comcast ON-DEMAND. KJZZ-TV will feature five games live and five tape delayed games that are scheduled to air immediately follow live Utah Jazz games. All 24 games will also be available via Comcast ON-DEMAND. Having the games available on Comcast's ON-DEMAND service means that Comcast Digital Cable customers can watch the games any time of the day, any day of the week with pause, fast-forward and reverse capability for no additional charge.

The Flash will also appear on national television via NBA TV a minimum of three times, with the exact schedule to be released by the network and the league at a later date.

"We are excited to be able to have all our home games on television in our inaugural season," Flash owner Brandt Andersen said. "This is one more example of how important basketball is to fans in Utah, and continues to signal the significant role the Flash will play in the Utah sports landscape."

The 2007-08 regular season will tip-off as the Flash visits the Anaheim Arsenal on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 7:30 p.m. MT. KJZZ will air its first live regular season Flash game from the McKay Events Center in Orem on Tuesday, Nov. 27 as the Flash host the Dakota Wizards at 7 p.m. MT.
