D-League's First Selection Gill Earns Gatorade Call-Up To Nets
NEW YORK, N.Y., Nov. 15, 2007 - The New Jersey Nets have signed Colorado 14ers' guard Eddie Gill, making him the first GATORADE Call-Up of the 2007-08 NBA Development League season, and the 91st overall since the league began play in November 2001. Gill, 29, played four preseason games with the Nets this year and averaged 4.3 points, 3.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 24 minutes per game.
"He was terrific in camp for us. He knows what we're doing, so it's a natural fit," said Rod Thorn the Nets President. "He's a tough, competitive kid. He'll help us out."
During his five-year NBA career, Gill has averaged 3.1 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists, including a previous stint with the Nets during the 2000-01 season. That season he averaged 4.9 points and 3.0 assists and scored the NBA's eight millionth point against the Celtics on 4/15/01.
A 2000 graduate of Weber State, Gill was selected first overall in the 2007 D-League Draft by the Colorado 14ers. Gill has previously spent time in the D-League when he saw action in 35 games for the Asheville Altitude during the 2002-03 season.
Gill is practicing with the Nets today and will be wearing number eight.
The NBA Development League is the NBA's official minor league, and the first-ever basketball league with direct affiliations to NBA teams. Now in its seventh season the D-League's goals are to provide affordable, NBA-caliber entertainment to fans of its 14 teams, as well as continue to develop players, coaches, referees and front-office personnel for the NBA. As the single source for in-season player "call-ups" to the NBA, fans of the D-League enjoy the highest caliber of basketball played outside the NBA. In fact, former D-League players represented 10 percent of NBA players on 2007-08 opening day rosters, numbering 44 in total. In addition, the D-League has produced 25 percent of current NBA referees and 16 current NBA coaches, including head coach Sam Vincent with the Charlotte Bobcats. The D-League is an innovative and rapidly growing sports property that also serves as an experimental testing ground for new initiatives of the NBA and its teams, provides continuing education and professional development resources for its players, and is committed to serving its local communities through D-LEAGUE CARES and grassroots efforts.

Arsenal Fall to Jam
Anaheim, Calif., November 16, 2007- On a festive night where the Arsenal celebrated the beginning of the 2007-2008 NBA D-League pre-season with free tickets and free parking for all fans, the Arsenal came up short 94-89 to the Bakersfield Jam.
The Arsenal and Jam both showed off their offensive power early by scoring 25 points each in the first quarter. Arsenal forward Steven Smith racked up 10 points in the first half but tailed off towards the end of the game due to Bakersfield's intense defense.
The Arsenal went into the locker room at halftime down 51-47. When the Jam returned for the second half they were lifted by the play of 6'7" forward Anthony Wilkins and center Lorenzo Davis. Davis finished the game with 14 points.
Arsenal point guard Davin White scored a total of 18 points in the loss. Other offense for the Arsenal included forward Steven Smith with 14 points and forward Noel Felix with 10 points. Davin White's steal and alley-oop pass to Kedrick Brown with one minute left in the fourth quarter brought the Arsenal within three points of the Jam, 92-89. Despite the late game push by the Arsenal, Lorenzo Davis sunk two free throws with 36.1 seconds left to secure the win for the Bakersfield Jam.
After the game Arsenal Head Coach Reggie Geary said, "It was an exhibition game. It served its purpose. This game gave us a chance to look at the players and run some plays. Now we can adjust for the season and make things better. The regular season will be better."
"This was a typical pre-season game. We wanted to see what we could do. We made some mistakes but they will be fixed by the next game," stated Dean Murray, Arsenal Assistant Coach

Golden State's Perovic send to D-League's Bakersfield Jam
NEW YORK, NY, - Nov. 18, 2007 - The Golden State Warriors have assigned center Kosta Perovic (COAST - a PEAR - a - vich) to their NBA Development League affiliate Bakersfield Jam, Warriors' Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin announced today. Perovic, 22, was the Warriors second-round pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, and has not appeared in any of Golden State's first seven games during the 2007-08 regular season, spending the first five games on the inactive list.
Perovic is the sixth player assigned to the D-League from the NBA following Ramon Sessions (Milwaukee Bucks), Kyrylo Fesenko (Utah Jazz), Steve Novak (Houston Rockets), Brandon Wallace (Boston Celtics) and JamesOn Curry (Chicago Bulls).
The D-League is way ahead of last years pace in terms of NBA player assignments. During the 2006-07 season there hadn't been one NBA player assigned at this point. The first player sent to the NBA Development League occurred on November 22, 2006 when Ryan Hollins of the Charlotte Bobcats was assigned to the Fort Worth Flyers from the Charlotte Bobcats.
Perovic joins a Bakersfield club led by head coach Jim Harrick who wo the 1995 NCAA Championship with UCLA. The team tips off their second season in the NBA Development League on November 24 when they visit the Austin Toros, the affiliate of the defending NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs.
