NEW YORK, March 1 –The New Jersey Nets’ Vince Carter and the Dallas Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki today were named Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Month, respectively, for games played during the month of February.

Carter, Nowitzki Named Players of the Month
Nowitzki led his team to a 10-3 record for February, averaging 27.2 points on .464 shooting, 10.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists. He had eight double-doubles over the last 10 games and recorded 30 or more points in five contests. In February, Nowitzki led the Western Conference in scoring, ranking fourth overall in the league.
Carter ranked second in the league in scoring in February, averaging 30.2 points on .444 shooting with 6.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists. He scored over 30 points in six games and led the Nets in scoring in 11 of 13 contests. In the second of his three double-doubles for the month, he had a season-high 43 points and 14 rebounds against Philadelphia on February 7.
