The Mavericks are well aware that NBA teams winning Game 5 in a tied series go on to win the series 84 percent of the time.

However, the Suns have led a best-of-7 series 3-2 on seven occasions and gone on to win the series only four times (57.1 percent).

The Mavericks have been behind 3-2 in a series three times. They lost in six to San Antonio in the 2003 conference finals, lost in seven to the LA Lakers in the 1988 conference finals and lost in six to the Lakers in the '86 conference semis.

Since 2001, the Mavericks are 7-4 in games in which they have faced elimination.

I like the first point.. related to teams not coming back when down 3-2, however, i hate when the media brings up statistics like "oh, the magic have not come back (96% times) after a game winning shot against a team w/ a european point guard, who enjoys rap music"

57.1 percent is great if the team was the same.. however, this is a different Suns team, especially w/ Q-Rich, an emerging JJ, a signed MVP steve Nash, and Jim Jackson..

The only way the Mavs win the series is if they execute on the defensive end. You can't rely on just hitting shots and out running an offensive team. Mavs play solid defense they can win this series but we have yet to see that consistantly.
