Re: Dampier or Nash ?
People seem to forget this decision is going to take years to know if it was a good one or not. Devin Harris is still apart of this equation and is the future. I expect the Devin to be coming into his own when Nash is declining. Patience is the key to this not just about the money we spent on Damp.

Michael Finley was the true heart of the Mavericks.

Re: Dampier or Nash ?
I think at the time, it wasn't a bad move. Dampier does make them a more balanced team. However, I don't know who knew that Nash was capable of this much when called upon. Right now, the move looks terrible, but it was understandable.

Re: Dampier or Nash ?
There was hardly any assurance they would get Dampier when they let Nash walk.

Re: Dampier or Nash ?
This is how i look at tho NAsh fits better with the Suns because in Phonix he is the man. In Dallas in what him finley and Dirk. D'anotoni gives Steve the reigns.

But we knew that the Mavs were gonna be in the running to require a big man via a Sign and trade. We almost had Brad Miller back insummer of 2003 but Sac-town stole them from us.

Exactly. It's hardly an either or situation, because Nash's departure opened up the whole offseason, not just got us Dampier. The correct question would be Nash or Harris, Terry, Hendersen, Stackhouse, and Dampier. Nash is the MVP, but that's a no brainer. We're still a better team without him.

Re: Dampier or Nash ?
I really think Avery needs to tweak the roster to his likes.

Re: Dampier or Nash ?
This is what I consider Superstar a player that can put a team on his back and win the title. Dirk isnt a Superstar neither is Mcgrady because he cant even get out of the first round. There are only to me at least very few players that are superstars.
5 superstars
Duncan
Shaq because he can win.
Steve Nash because of this year.
Kevin Garnett
Kobe Bryant I hate to put kg and Kobe but they are.
Dirk is a border line but he hasnt made the step yet.

Re: Dampier or Nash ?
I just want all of you to think about this. If we DID keep Nash, who would be in the middle. If you think Dampier got killed by Stoudemare.... wow...
