Should Mavs sign Van Exel?

Do you think it would be smart for Mavs to sign Nick Van Exel?? Why?

It's a common misconception to think that the magic of yesteryear can be duplicated; time marches to the beat of no man.

Re: Should Mavs sign Van Exel?

I just don't get it. Why don't we sign Tiny Archibald, he was a great player years ago as well?

Van Excel is a shooting guard who can no longer shoot. And worst of all is that he doesn't know it. He still thinks he is the best option on the floor. I guess that makes for a great confident attitude but it does not help the team when a guy who is not a good shooter insists on shooting anyway.

And what happened to our new commitment to defense? Is Van Excel going to help us there? Of course not.

I guess I am one of the few who remembers games other than the Portland series. Yes, Nick was hot for that series and he helped us quite a bit. He also hurt us so many times with his isolation one on one play and bad shots.

Re: Should Mavs sign Van Exel?

We dont really need Van Exel anymore. If its a guarantee that he can bring the same game and energy that he brought a few years ago then maybe we should try him. But I doubt it. We have enough offensive minded players. Let re-sign Armstrong who is all huslte.
