Rethinking Dirk

What do you guys think of letting Dirk hover near the three point line, like we did a few years back. His attempts for a three have drasticly decreased. He still is our best three point shooter and with Dampier playing well, his presence isnt needed as much in the paint. If Dirk played the dual role (three point shooter and paint scorer) it would help alleviate the loss of Finley, while keeping defenses honost.

Re: Rethinking Dirk

The Mavs would need to get some penetration then from the perimeter, because they rely on Dirk on those isolations to get offense, and if he's standing behind the three point line it puts more pressure on Guards to create some offense.

Re: Rethinking Dirk

I like that Dirk doesnt stand around at the 3 point line as much anymore but I wouldnt mind seeing him do that. We have Jason Terry who can penetrate and dish it out real good. Nash used to set up Dirk for a 3 pointer by penetrating and dishing it out or by using the pick n' roll. Nash would run all the way around the hoop and then pass to Dirk for the 3. I know Terry can do both with Dirk. Its up to Avery if he wants to run that play.
