Scouting report on Powell...

Is he a combo forward or more of a wing player?

He's got a decent NBA body for rebounding, with good legs to get up and down. Not much perimeter game, offensively or defensively. More of a banger, but he's not big enough unless he developes a Charles Oakley attitude to really get a niche.

Re: Scouting report on Powell...

Hard worker. Will fight for rebounds, and his size allows him to be successful here. Not great offensively. Keep him low on both ends on the floor, not much perimeter game. Kind of...Jermaine O'Neal light? Really, really, really, really light? Though we never saw what I would call greatness in games, every single Mavs insider (press or otherwise) has said that he is an absolute beast in practices. I'll end this paragraph of praise by saying I won't be missing him and you guys got ripped off.

I am a Nets fan wondering if he can provide some frontcourt depth since Pacers are likely to waive him.

How is his post defense since lousy defense would glue him to Frank's bench?

Still learning; I think he's willing to throw his body around, but he didn't get much of an opportunity here.

Re: Scouting report on Powell...

Pretty much what everyone else said but yall are underrating his offense!

He has a nice jumper up to about 16 feet and can throw down a nice two handed dunk once in a while

Re: Scouting report on Powell...

He's a natural four nothing else

But he'll probably get waived and re-sign with Dallas again if we dont sign Pops

With a lot of upside...he's got the attitude of a young Shawn Kemp.

Former All-Star Kemp charged with drug possession
Associated Press

HOUSTON -- Shawn Kemp was arrested and charged Friday with possession of marijuana, the latest drug-related trouble for the former NBA All-Star.

Kemp, 36, was arrested following a traffic stop for driving without a license plate shortly after midnight Friday. An officer with the Harris County Sheriff's Department pulled Kemp over and said he noticed the smell of burning marijuana coming from Kemp's vehicle.

The officer later found less than 2 ounces of the illegal drug in Kemp's possession. The six-time All-Star was released from the Harris County Jail after posting a $500 cash bond and faces a July 28 court appearance.

Kemp checked into a rehabilitation clinic for cocaine use in 2001. In April 2005, he was arrested for possessing small amounts of cocaine and marijuana in his truck.

After 14 seasons with the Seattle SuperSonics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Portland Trail Blazers and Orlando Magic, Kemp retired from the league in 2003 and now lives in Houston.
