ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Houston center Dikembe Mutombo got into it with a fan who allegedly yelled racist slurs at him in the third quarter of the Rockets' preseason loss to the Orlando Magic on Thursday night.
Mutombo yelled at the man and gestured back. The fan was ejected. No action was taken against Mutombo.
"I am not going to take that. He was insulting my race, my family, my integrity. For him to call me a monkey ... that should not happen today," Mutombo said.
"If I get fined, I will go straight into the stands the next time."
Magic spokesman Joel Glass said the matter was turned over to NBA security.

It's horrible, especially when your middle eastern... Trust me, even though Deke isn't middle eastern it still happens. I hate that.

This is horrible.. This is the guy who donates millions and spends his time over seas in his home country building hospitals and such. Honestly, how more tactless can you get?? Mutombo is one of the most classy guys in the league. Its just wrong...

But in an ironic way, it's morons like that (in the stands) that help pay the salary he uses to do good in his homeland. I hope Deke looked at it that way later when he had a chance to cool down.
