Another look at the Kidd deal...
With acquisition of Magloire, NJN and DAL exchanged the following players:
Devin Harris
DeSagana Diop
Trenton Hassell
Maurice Ager
Van Horn via sign-and-trade
First-round picks this June and in 2010
$3 million in cash
Jason Kidd
Malik Allen
Antoine Wright
Jamaal Magloire (signed for a pro-rated share of the league's $1.03 million veteran minimum)
If you take out the money aspect, Dallas made out pretty well IMO.

Re: Another look at the Kidd deal...
Jason Kidd >> Devin Harris
Jamall Magloire = DeSagana Diop (I am calling a push here because Diop is non-existent on offensive end, and Magloire at least went to ONE ASG. People may have all given up hope on the guy, but I will pass judgment after seeing him in action under AJ)
Hassell & Ager = Allen & Wright (I do like the size we gained here though.)
Players-wise, we made out well in the short run, but Cuban lost a ton a money, which I couldn't care less.
Agree or disagree?

Re: Another look at the Kidd deal...
I like the pick up of Magloire for this one reason. Kidd asked for it. I'm not saying Kidd is running the franchise, what I'm saying is he was vouched for. Hopefully this makes him play at a level we are gonna need out of him.
I just realized that Cassell is 38-39 and still very productive. How many years can we get out of Kidd? Enough to get past the years we gave up draft picks for him?
I also like that we got bigger with Allen and Wright...we were starting to have a lot of SG/SF(notice i put the SG first)

Re: Another look at the Kidd deal...
I think Wright is a definite sleep of thise trade. He can play damn good defense, and has a half-way decent shot at the arc. He is exactly what Dallas needs at the two spot, and he will be that for years to come. A youthier version of Eddie Jones.

You should know better than to use Magloire's AS appearance to make a case for him. Diop is bigger and a more intimidating presence than Magloire.

Re: Another look at the Kidd deal...
Not to be a buzz kill, but the only way to grade this deal is after the season...
...and speaking of seasoning, this team will come together and produce something: just not sure what yet.

Did he not appear in the ASG? Am I stating wrong information?
I'll re-state, "People may have all given up hope on the guy (Magloire), but I will pass judgment after seeing him in action under AJ."
Maybe you also missed that DAL is paying him a pro-rated share of the league's $1.03 million veteran minimum. That's a BARGAIN for a big in NBA, especially if he's been in ASG.

Here, here! That's roughly 40% of the league minimum for a much needed insurance policy.
