Taking a look back at Avery's tenure
2004-05 58 24 .707
Dallas 4, Houston 3
Phoenix 4, Dallas 2
2005-06 60 22 .732
Dallas 4, Memphis 0
Dallas 4, San Antonio 3
Dallas 4, Phoenix 2
Miami 4, Dallas 2
2006-07 67 15 .817
Golden State 4, Dallas 2
2007-08 51 31 .622
New Orleans 4, Dallas 1
With the exception of the Finals run those were all early exits and I'm not even sure if 06 wasn't fluky. We beat a not so good Memphis team, Avery could use some insider information in the series against San Antonio, then we beat a Phoenix without Amare only to lose the Finals in the most disappointing fashion.
I can't say I wish him all the best because I don't feel that way right now, but I hope he will find a new job soon.

Re: Taking a look back at Avery's tenure
A young Bulls team seems like a nice place for an energetic younger coach like Avery to go. It'd also be a nice place to be as a coach cause you know these kids can play better than they did last year. Unless the lil playoff run was a fluke like our Finals run....

To JHo, I am sure it was all just a blur...
I am picturing him putting down his bong and saying, "Huh? What? Did I miss something?"

Re: Taking a look back at Avery's tenure
Lamar Odom was the guy with the bong collection. I'm taking Josh for more of a stick type guy.

Re: Taking a look back at Avery's tenure
I think he'll help a team become good because he's demanding and preaches fundamentals, but ultimately I doubt he could create a perennial title contender for reasons I've previously outlined. He's a stopover coach, I think Chicago would be a good fit.
