A damn nice diversification, and only the real estate suffered this year.

That's a lot of ticker with V and G. It was very difficult to concentrate on them with my mind running wild.

Help me watch for this IPO: Amyris Biotechnologies.

Amyris uses environmentally friendly renewable feedstocks like sugarcane, corn and cellulose to produce transportation biofuels for use with existing engines that leave a lower "carbon footprint" than traditional fuel. The company first designed its production process for an anti-malarial compound and last May redeployed its technology to research biofuels, or hydrocarbons - alternatives to ethanol and other alcohols.

These people actually turn sugar into gasoline in their labs.

Wow... that's pretty amazing, but that also means a ton of hype around it.

You would speculate short term or hold long?

Too early to tell - hype means short to me, but promise means long - agree?

Absolutely, but a handful of hyped IPO stocks out there never looked back from that 1st day, so holding would have worked quite well....

Of course, a lot of emphasis on HANDFUL (out of hundreds).

I don't think there's a bigger issue on the horizon than energy dependence, and if this baby even looks to hold promise in that arena...
