Computer question
I've got red markings over all images on my monitor; digital photos look horrible because of this. The markings are like tracers, hard to describe it any other way.
Does this sound like a virus, or just a bad monitor?

Re: Computer question
What do you mean "red markings?"
Sometimes dead pixels on LCD monitors "misbehave," and show colors that they are not suppose to. That's obviously what you hope for.
Are these markings random on your screen?

Re: Computer question
do the markings move? are they always there?
the easiest thing to do is just hook it up to another monitor (maybe take it to work or ask a friend) and see if they are still

Re: Computer question
Thanks for the replies.
The markings don't move, but rather appear on most people in a picture or around any random object. My avatar's hair is fuzzy and pink, for example.
The advice to forward a picture to work and see if it appears there is great. I print the pictures here at home, and the markings appear on the sheet; so that's the next step for diagnosis.
Thanks.

Re: Computer question
if the marks are printing, it sounds like a graphics card problem or something

Re: Computer question
Downloaded a group of pictures on a disc, and brought it to work.
The disc looked crappy at home, but great here at work. So, is it the monitor? If it was the graphics card, wouldn't the disc be affected no matter where it was viewed?

Re: Computer question
Well, I don't think it's the graphics card, since your printer is printing what's on the screen, right?
Video driver and printer drivers are completely separate processes, and, if those two are synchronized in producing junk, your problem must be else where.
Did you recently install any new software?

Wouldn't do any good (not the porn, the red glow). If you guys can't see my avatar having red hair - and I can't either at work - then it's just the viewing done at the home computer.
I'm thinking the monitor's the culprit; we got a new HP system and BB threw in a flat panel monitor as part of the package. It's not an HP - though they're probably all refurbed by AL's pick-u-part anyway...

My thoughts as well - all other text is fine.
