Cubes Bids on Cubbies

Cubes Bids on Cubbies

Estimated close to a 1 billion dollar deal which would include the Cubs, Wrigley Field and Comcast Sports Net.
On a side note, I was gonna make an offer too but decided to hold on to my spare billion dollars I have lying around.

Doesn't that mean you get a season ticket there as HDNet employee?

All I need is airfare and hotel in Chi-Town and I'm all set.

I wonder how he would run them, salary wise. Especially if ARod was about to hit the market.

He won't hesitate to spend the bucks, but I doubt he'd go out and try to lock down "established" players. Which is try you haven't seen any big name deals land in mavsland.

If he thinks a player could be the future face of Cubs, he'll lock him down and build around him....

...hopefully not a slow white guy.

Alot of people are saying Chicago would be a city for A Rod but for 30 million a year its steep. But he would be the face of the Cubs.

But theyd have to do something with Aramis.

Re: Cubes Bids on Cubbies

Do the Cubs fans want A Rod as the face of Cubs?

A Rod spent some time here with the Rangers, and his mouth wouldn't stop moving.... (spewing negativity) By the time a deal was made, people were more relieved than anything else.

Texas wrote him the biggest check at the time and was ready to build the club around him.....

Yeah but in Chicago he would have a way better team around him, and some pitching.

Having Soriano, Lee, Aramis around you provides protection.

LOL!

That's what people thought when he went to the Yanks, no?

What more "protection" do you want? The biggest stockpile of talents that money can buy.....

"..... but the fans boo me."

boo-hoo! Cry me a river....

Yeah but Aramis, Lee, and Soriano are all over 300 which isnt the case in newyork.

Also the media in Chicago is different than that of New York.

Re: Cubes Bids on Cubbies

It doesn't matter how much the Yanks are batting NOW. You have to admit they were all big time hitters/difference maker when they got their big fat check.

Yeah, I'll give you that on media. CHI is much kinder to athletes.

Yeah, like your ebucks work.
Anyway, I wonder if Cuban is going to go to every Cubs home game as well.

(Isn't it his dream to buy Pittsburgh Pirates sine he's from there?)

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It'd be good for baseball to have someone like Cuban (& his 'deep pockets') come to a small market like the Pirates. A team with their history deserves to have a chance in hell to compete against larger markets. Heck, I could see myself rooting for the Bucs then - as long as they weren't playing the A's in the W.S.
