No midseason replacement coach has ever won the award in the NBA. Can Karl become the first? The RMN had an article about this.

Any coach that is willing to act the fool to keep his team loose and violate the dress code for coaches gets my vote.



Karl is 19-5 with 16 games to go. If he finishes the season 30-10 or better, I believe he should win the award.

The only way Karl MIGHT get COY is if he gets Denver to the 6th seed or if Denver goes undefeated for the remainder of the season and Phoenix has a season-ending slump, none of which will happen. Mike D'antoni or whatever his name is has pretty much been doing all season what Karl has been doing for about a month and a half. I rule out Popps because Phoenix will probably end up with a better record and the Phoenix team has come a huge way from last year.

It depends where the team ends up...its hard to give it to someone who came in during the middle of the season. There is no doubt that Denver has been much improved (record wise atleast...I haven't followed the team too much), but with D'Antoni and Van Gundy in Miami doing what they've done all year, its hard to give it to him.
