Weekend Set! Playoff basketball

Well this coming weekend playoff basketball is in full swing. I'm excited and wow look at the series. Simply stunning 1st round this season. I expect a few major and minor upsets.

The Western Playoffs

1.)Houston at Dallas - Well this is the one series T-mac a true superstar with amazing athletic agility will have the chance to silence all his critics of the past. If he hadn’t already. I could easily see the Rockets upsetting the Mavs.
My bold prediction is 7 games Rockets advance.

2.)Sacramento at Seattle - I'm a long time Seattle Supersonic fan since living up in the PNW the past 6 years. I have no real interest in the Kings and cant really comment on the team since I don’t follow them. So I'll take the Sonics although I'm sure everyone expect's them to lose in the 1st round.
My bold prediction is the Supersonics do win in the 1st round.

3.)Denver at San Antonio - The Spurs have Duncan. Like the Heat have Shaq nobody in this league can shut those guys down. Its a huge advantage for the Spurs. And we will have to live with what Duncan does. Camby will have to do his best and again we have to live with that. That said our front court is deeper and better on defense and offense than the Spurs in my opinion. The spurs are much better on the perimeter though and have a lot more experience come playoff time. Saying all those givens I'm sure most would agree with. I will predict the nuggets to win in 6 or 7. I'm sure most will call me a homer and that’s fine. I'm just too superstitious to say the Nuggets will lose to the Spurs. Although that is the most likely scenario. (See I kind of said It)
My Very very bold prediction the Nuggets win in 7 games.

4.)Memphis at Phoenix - Initially I thought the Suns would wipe the floor with Memphis especially considering the Play of late by the Grizz. That was until I saw the stats that TNT pulled up regarding the Grizz and Suns. For some reason the Grizz are able to slow down the suns. Also I like the Grizz bench it's deep. They have starters that can run in the open court with the Sun players. It will be a great match up. Besides the Spurs vs. Nuggets series this Memphis series and the Rockets series are the next two I'm eager to see.
My bold prediction is that Memphis wins in 6.

The Eastern Playoffs
------------------------------------------------------------------------

5.)Philadelphia at Detroit - Detroit will probably take this series. Although I'm pulling for A.I. to have a great series and steal a few games.
Obvious prediction Pistons in 6.

6.)Indiana at Boston - Never liked the C's and I'm not going to start now. Also I'm pulling for Reggie Miller as this is his last shot to make a run.
My bold prediction is the Pacers in 6.

7.)New Jersey at Miami - Probably will be a very entertaining series with the new resurgence of Vince Carter and the talented play of pt. guard Jason Kidd. Plus you have the Disel trying to pave his way and his Heat team to another Chip for Shaq and a first for the Heat. I love The play of D Wade the kid is full of heart and effort. The Dwayne Wade vs. Vince Carter match up should prove to be special.
My prediction is the Heat in 5

8.)Washington at Chicago - I'm pulling for the Bulls. It's been hard watching them struggle for so long after the dynasty ended. I like this eclectic bunch of players the Bulls have. And I have been a huge fan of Scott Skiles. I will give the Wizards their props though. Back in the playoffs and have a team that can win on any given night. I'm most impressed with Arenas and his silky smooth court play.
My bold prediction is the Bulls in 6

There you have it my predictions and thoughts behind them for this years playoffs. I'm sure I will get a few right and some wrong. I made some of those bold predictions though because I really feel like this year its wide open for the most part.

Re: Weekend Set! Playoff basketball

Nothing else to do, so I guess I'll follow suit with the predictions.
First Round

Western Conference
(1) Phoenix vs. (8) Memphis
Prediction: Phoenix in 7. Overmatched Grizzlies give Suns doubters more fodder leading into the second round.
(2) San Antonio vs. (7) Denver
Prediction: Denver in 6. A 75% Tim Duncan isn't enough to keep the Spurs' title hopes alive.
(3) Seattle vs (6) Sacramento
Prediction: Sacramento in 6. Sacramento wins all of their home games, and managaes to steal one from the Sonics, who are slowing down at the wrong time. Hit hard with injuries, the Sonics only have one quality win under their belts since March.
(4) Dallas vs. (5) Houston
Prediction: Dallas in 7. Hard fought series, with each team winning one away from home.

Eastern Conference
(1) Miami vs. (8) New Jersey
Prediction: Miami in 4. Jersey's comically overmatched frontcourt is simply dominated by Shaq, who's also going to be stepping it up like he does every year.
(2) Detroit vs. (7) Philadelphia
Prediction: Detroit in 5. AI needs more help than just Chris Webber if this organization wants to win. The decent core of young guys (Korver, Dalembert, etc) are no match for the machine coming out of Detroit.
(3) Boston vs. (6) Indiana
Prediction: Indiana in 7. JO comes up big as the Pacers steal a close one on the road, prolonging Reggie's farewell tour a little more.
(4) Chicago vs. (5) Washington
Prediction: Washington in 6. Arenas and Hughes torch the Bulls, bringing keeping the Wiz alive.

Second Round

Western Conference
(1) Phoenix vs. (4) Dallas
Prediction: Dallas in 6. Jason Terry's first playoffs are a memorable one, as he leads the team that tries to run with Phoenix, and succeeds, while making a few key defensive stops down the stretch as well.
(6) Sacramento vs. (7) Denver
Prediction: Denver in 6. Peja puts up modest numbers as Melo steps it up bigtime for the Nugs.

Eastern Conference
(1) Miami vs. (5) Washington
Prediction: Miami in 4. Mimami keeps the undefeated playoff streak alive, as Wade's stellar play on both ends of the floor is key, slowing the Wizards' backcourt, as Shaq is his usual dominant self.
(2) Detroit vs. (6) Indiana
Prediction: Detroit in 5. Detroit's deep frontcourt is enough to slow down JO, as the Pacers manage one win at home, much to the delight of the sellout crowd there for Reggie.

Conference Finals

Western Conference
(4) Dallas vs. (7) Denver
Prediction: Dallas in 7. Two clubs that play good at home show why, as no one wins one away from home in this one. Camby rebounds the hell out of the ball, but the Nuggets have no answer for Dirk on the perimeter.

Eastern Conference
(1) Miami vs. (2) Detroit
Prediction: Miami in 7. In what will become a classic series, Shaq and Co. break down the Larry Brown designed defense, and Damon Jones is the unsung hero of the series, hitting some well-timed jumpshots, most coming from Shaq.

NBA Finals
(1) Miami vs. (4) Dallas
Prediction: Miami in 5. Wade puts up some silly numbers to heighten the Jordan comparisons, and Shaq averages 30 and 15 in the Finals, as everyone forgets about that James kid for a few weeks.

You have some great predictions and many that I didnt pick. Also good idea at following through the entire playoffs instead of just stopping after the 1st round like I did.

I will finish my predictions all the way to the finals as well.

However I must point out that I really liked your Mavs vs. Heat Finals that would be a very entertaining match up.

Re: Weekend Set! Playoff basketball

Following up on my playoff predictions.

Western Conference

Second Round

Huston vs. Memphis - If T-Mac can be the brightest star and out play Dirk and the Mavs in a 7 game series, well than I believe Memphis will have no answer for him either. Memphis is a strong team with a few good swing men such as Posey and Miller a nice bench as well of swing men, but none on the level of T-mac. Gasol and Yao match up would be equal. So I will bet my money on T-mac to carry these Rockets.
My prediction is that Huston wins in 6

Seattle vs. Denver - I like Denver in this series. However I must say Seattle might sneak away with this one. I'm going to go ahead and call the series for the Nuggets. As great as the Sonics big men inside can play at times. They seem to inconsistent for me to bet on them. Where with the Nuggets we are so talented and deep on the front line. Will handle ours and the Sonics will struggle, although Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis will be a tough match up for us.
My prediction is the Nuggets win in 6

Western Conference Finals

Denver vs. Huston - This is the series I wish I could take my Nuggets in. So it's hard for me to say this , but if T-mac has the playoffs of his life that I'm expecting him to the Nuggets will fall to the Rockets. I'm really riding T-mac in this playoffs to be the superstar to shine the brightest.
My prediction is the Rockets win in 6

Huston Rockets the Western Conference Champions.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eastern Conference

Second Round

Miami vs. Chicago - Another quick series for the Heat. The Bulls don't have the front line to match up against Shaq. He will dominate the Bulls inside the paint all series. Also none of the Bulls guard match up very well against Dwayne Wade.
My prediction Miami in 5

Detroit vs Indiana - A great match up of two teams that have had hold of the East along side the Nets the past few seasons. I have to take the NBA champions to win this one. Indiana is hurt by the lost of 2 key players.
My prediction is that Detroit wins in 6

Eastern Conference Finals

Detroit vs. Miami - I like Miami to play their best against the next best team in the East. Shaq along side Zo and Haslem will prove too much for the Pistons. And I expect D wade to have a few huge games against the Pistons , but play very consistent through out the series.
My prediction Miami wins in 6

Miami Heat The Eastern Conference Champions.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finals

Miami vs. Huston - Yao vs. Shaq match up will prove ill for Rocket fans. As Shaq will dominate inside and put Yao on a poster every night in the worst kind of way. D Wade and T-mac will negate each others amazing performances although it will be very special to watch. The Miami role players in Eddie Jones and Damon Jones will step up big and knock down the 3 ball. While inside guys like Zo and Haslem will prove to much for the Rockets.
My prediction the Miami Heat win the Finals in 6 games

Miami Heat are the NBA Champions And Shaq is the MVP
