What would you do?
You are Kiki for the summer.
You just drafted J. Hodge to fill a need at the 2, 3, and maybe even the 1. What do you do next?
I ship Nene because his upside is still unknown and his backup Fransisco Elson will fill the void along w/ Najera, Klieza, and hopefully eventually Sanchez. The object is to win now and Elson as of right now is as good as Nene.

Re: What would you do?
Unless an absolute stud SG or PG comes back that plays defense, I wouldn't trade Nene now. His contract is pretty cheap, which means that you won't be getting fair value for him and that other contracts would have to be included.
If you look at all of the deals that Kiki has turned down when teams wanted Nene, I don't see him trading him now unless Karl has stated that he doesn't believe he would ever develop into anything that he could use. Considering the injuries that Nene suffered last season, I don't see how Karl could make a true assessment of him.
I disagree that the objective is to win now. The objective is to get better each season and build a sustainable championship contender. To many things can go wrong when you build for 1 season.
Before any moves are made, I will state that if the Nuggets make the conference finals, then I will be very happy as that means they not only won a playoff series, but two series.

Yeah, I totally agree with you on all points. There is just so much talk about Nene getting dealt it's hard to imagine Kiki keeping him. I know Elson is older and is ceiling is lower, but I like his game and am one of the few who does. I really like Nene, but I'm growing impatient w/ him.

I agree completely. I think trading a 22 year old big man with the tools that Nene has, even if he hasn't yet put it all together, for a streaky 30 year old shooting guard just doesn't make sense. It would be a panic move, and the Nuggets have no reason to panic. Yeah, they need a shooting guard, but there are other options available than trading Nene. The Nuggets have been talking to Marko Jaric's agent, for example, who won’t cost more than the MLE. There are obviously some concerns about this, namely his injury history, but other than that and the fact that he is an RFA, he would be a nice option. He can knock down an open 3, he can play defense, and he can play the point when Gizmo Boykins turns into a Gremlin (a BIG part of the appeal to going after Jaric as far as I’m concerned). If the Clippers matched the offer, that might be right around the time when other shooting guards get waived with this new luxury tax buy out clause. It's not perfect, but it's a much better plan than trading Nene for Mobley.
