Play of Nuggets' Nene Hilario creating stir in his native country

Friday, February 07, 2003 - One recent morning in New York City, Denver Nuggets rookie Nene Hilario found himself lying on the floor of Madison Square Garden, his head resting on a basketball while a photographer from a Brazilian magazine, "Oi," snapped photos. That evening, before tipoff against the Knicks, he had his picture taken with Brazilian actress Sonia Braga. During the game, in front of Brazilian executives interested in talking to him about endorsement contracts, he flashed his all-rookie form.
At this pace, it may not be too long before Hilario's Magic Johnson-like smile is known far beyond Denver.
