Plinko

Where will this lineup land the Nuggets out West?

PG- Andre Miller / Earl Boykins / Flores
SG- Vo Lenard / J. Hodge / Buckner
SF- Melo / Najera / Klieza
PF- KMart / Nene
C- Camby / Elson

This looks pretty ugly to me. Certainly not higher than a 5 seed.

My lineup:

PG- Miller / Jaric / Flores
SG- DerMarr Johnson / J. Hodge / Lenard
SF- Melo / Najera / Klieza
PF- KMart / Nene
C- Camby / Elson

I think this roster can win the Northwest. You stay very athletic at the 2 with DerMarr and Hodge and bring Vo off the bench for instant offense in spurts.
Miller can get to the foul line and dish up more fan favorite alley opps. Jaric can spell Miller and defend like crazy. Flores can play sparingly, but shoot suprisingly well (like he did in the summer league and at Manhattan).
Melo can take over at times and not worry about a ballhog PG or SG.
Kmart and Nene can rotate and the Center spot is thin, but athletic and can hit the 10-12 footers.

That looks the best to me. The only question is Vo Leonard.

Re: Plinko

I agree that what the Nuggets have now is a good lineup and can make the playoffs but it is time for them to take the next step. They can't settle for a first round exit again and adding a scorer like Finely could be the piece that puts the Nuggets over the top.

Re: Plinko

You guys are forgetting how weak their division is. Minnesota is aging and in disarray... Seattle has lost their coach and key role players (and they could still lose more)... Portland is strictly in rebuilding mode for another couple of seasons at least... Utah will probably be better than they were last year but they aren't going to challenge for the division title. Any projection worth the brain cells used to conjure them up should put the Nuggets as the favorites to win the division, even if they don't grab a shooting guard like Finley... which means no worse than a three seed.

I wouldn't count out Minny or Seattle. Seattle lost Daniels and Evans. Evans will be an upgraded position with Nick Collison, but Daniels will be missed. Nate McMillan was replaced from within and the team should run on the same page.
Granting the Nuggets the 3rd seed already based on paper is shaky. They should win the 3rd seed and probably will be the favorites to do so, but that doesn't mean squat.

Having home court in the first round or beyond will be the key because of the upgrades of Houston, S.A. and Dallas. and Phoenix.
