With the big trade going through with Miami,Boston,Utah,Memphis, and New Orleans.....

If the Nuggets do not land a SG this off season in free agency, what do you think of the idea of Paul Pierce coming over to Denver from Boston ?

Now I'm not even sure how this deal would work, but I'm sure Pierce is not happy about Walker being traded to Miami. Walker always took the preassure off of Pierce being the number one guy in Boston. So Paul might want out of Boston.

I also think that Paul Pierce could play the SG position for the Nuggets that way Carmelo would still start at SF.

Just an idea...anybody have any thoughts on this trade idea ? Or maybe you see some other guys that might be avalable later on in the season ?

I really have just been waiting for the Nuggets to get a big name this off season, but alas nothing still. I wonder if we end with Spree ?

Nuggets wouldn't get Paul Pierce without giving up Anthony. Or at least I can't think of a package that the Celtics would do . Maybe something involving NeNe or Camby.

Yeah Nene is trade bait for the Nuggets since they have Kenyon Martin starting at the P/F position, but I really want the Nuggets to develop Nene I think he can be a real force in the years to come.

Also I don't think the Nuggets would trade Carmelo because he is pretty much the face of the franchise, also I want Carmelo to stay in Denver. I guess Your probably right it would have to be Nene/Camby trade to even make a deal like this happen, but you never know crazier things have happened.

i can think of plenty of trade combinations to land pierce that boston would do that doesnt involved Melo. However, i wouldnt do them. If Nene can play and stay healthy the team is going to be much more interested in moving Kenyon Martin. Right now they dont want to make a move until they see what Nene brings this season.

To get Pierce Denver would have to give up a combo of Nene and Draft picks. The Celtics just aquired a PG and really do not need a PF project with Al Jefferson and co. down low for the Celtics.

I don't see a Anthony / Pierce swap either, but Boston and Denver don't really have much to offer each other.

What if Denver swapped Andre Miller, Eduardo Najera and/or Voshon Lenard (exp-contract), and a first round (the one aquired from Skita deal)? That gets the salaries somewhat close.
Then Denver could sign Marko Jaric.

Jaric (Full MLE) / Boykins / Flores
Pierce / DJ (Vet min.) /Hodge
Anthony / Klieza
Martin / Nene
Camby / Elson

Western Conferance finals? NBA title contenders?

That would be a great starting five! In fact to be able to keep Martin and Nene plus aquire a guy like Pierce would be incredible.

Although if Pierce wants out of Boston this season at some piont which I think he will because of the trade of Walker and the fact Boston seems to be going younger and rebuilding. A lot of other NBA teams will be trying to trade for him and they may give up a big name player.

Here is my question if the Nuggets could get Pierce this season. Who would you rather give up for him. Would you trade Martin ? or would you trade Nene ? or maybe even Camby ?

I'd rather give up Martin, begrudinly. I really would like to keep all 3, but w/ salaries and such I know it'd be impossible.

I still think my trade idea is perfect (for the Nuggets more so), but still!
The Celtics don't really need or 4 and Blount is Camby-esk in a dreamy type of way. Boston would need a swingman type guy back, but with the high schooler they drafted maybe Miller and Vo or Najera or both and a 1st would be enough. Dump Pierce's salary for a decently paid PG, Vo's expiring deal, and a pick or two. Tough to dump.
I don't know who Boston would get back for him? Artest? Someone from Atlanta?

Any other ideas?

Denver needs ball movement (and a wing that can shoot threes) when we are forced to run a half court set. Paul Pierce (and I like this guy) is what I call Mr. Iso. Yep Denver holds the ball bad enough in the halfcourt. It would just get worse with Mr. Pierce. Id rather have Finley or Jaric start the game. And then bring Spree off the bench with Boykins as opposed to a Pierce trade.

Thats right I'm surprised nobody has thought of this. You want boykins to pass the ball more? The dude beats everyone up the court. Spree could actually run with him. Two platnium spark plugs are better than one. This would be a nasty running one two punch off the bench. First we hit you with our first team. And once we've ran you to death with them. Now we bring in Spree and Boykins. Nasty.

Well did you see Pierce play in Kansas ? He is not just an iso player. I think that has a lot to do with the East and the system the Celtics run. I'm very high on Pierce I think this guy would be a perfect fit for the Nuggets. He can sink the 3 ball he can rebound and pass the ball. I think he averaged 22 points 5 boards and 4 assists last season.

He can run up and down the court in the George Karl offense because I saw Roy Williams run him like crazy when he played on the Jayhawks.

As for Spree, He averaged less points, less rebounds, less assists then Pierce last year. I think Spree's best days are behind him and will only continue to decline the rest of his career. I believe spree is coming up on his 14th season in the NBA.

Belive me I like what your brewing regarding the trade with Boston with out giving up one of our main big men. I just don't see it happening. Pierce value is just too high right now. Again though as I have already said crazier things have happened. Ala the Shaq trade to Miami from L.A. No way did the Lakers get anybody near Shaqs value.

At this point I can't make up my mind what big man I would give up for Pierce. It' really has a lot to do with what Nene shows this season, and if Martin can improve from last season.I sternly believe it would be the right decision to make that trade for Paul to come over to the Nuggets. Or any really great SG type player.

and he would be a lot cheaper too. spree is kinda known as a guy that is a runner.

I just defined what paul pierce is in the league now. he's been how he has been. and currently what he does wouldnt be good in denver in the half court set. if you can get finley and spree you wont have to worry about getting pierce

The Pierce idea is a nice dream, but I don't think he'd fit in Denver.

His salary is too enflated and who knows how he'd respond to taking on a less significant role in Denver. The Nuggets need to start relying on Melo to take over.

Yeah you are probably right. I'm just holding my breath the Nuggets can make a move that will help take this Nuggets team to the next level.

I also agree that Carmelo needs to step up, and I really think he will this up coming season. All the signs point in the right direction at the end of last season for Carmelo.

The guy was getting in the best shape of the season and looked very strong on the court, even when he was taking the ball to the rim against Duncan, and Mohammed against the Spurs when he was being blocked and pushed out of his comfort zone driving to the basket. I really think that series had a big impact on Carmelo. His game improved through out the series and he never gave up.

He just looked really sharp out there like he was in store for big things. Did anyone e
