I'm a little dissapointed that nobody bothered to beat me to this.

Why hasnt anyone suggested that if we cant get Finley that We use the MLE on a combination of Damon Jones and D. Johnson, as well as trading Najera for Spree.

We can afford both Jones and Johnson I know this. Lets pay him more than Miami. He would use the guy. Good combo guard.

1) Other than you, no one wants Spree.
2) Damon would likely take the entire MLE to convince him to leave Shaq
3) Damon is perfect for pairing with Shaq, but doesn't fit the Nuggets style very well.

In a perfect world I would want Spree to come off the bench because I think he would play well with Earl Boykins. I doubt I am alone in that. At least I recognize a team that is not quite yet a contender. Improvements must be made. Certainly Damon Jones brings the three point shooting this team needs. Spree might be hated, but quite frankily he still does have skills. He made a huge mistake by not taking the contract extension offered to him before. Moving Najera would make sense in this situation. Especially since we did that trade on draft night.

1) I was talking about other fans. Of course Camby would like one of his good friends on the team.
2) Damon may well end up settling for less to play in Miami, but that doesn't mean another team could get him for the same amount. You have to overpay a player to get them to move from a comfortable and near perfect situation.
3) Damon isn't an uptempo point guard or shooting guard. His strength is making shots in the half court as a spot up shooter. In case you didn't notice, but Karl's plan is not to have the Nuggets in the half court offense that often. Additionally, the Nuggets under Karl attempt to have a lot of ball movement and players moving without the ball. Damon doesn't move well without the ball, he spots up.

What skills does Spree have left? So last season should just be ignored?

A Boykins & Spree backcourt is a nightmare and pretty much the anti-Karl lineup. That is two players that don't share the ball and neither is a decent shooter. If that happened, Nene would never see the ball.

This isn't fantasy basketball. The players need to fit the system.

Contenders are multidemensional. A spot up three point shooter is exactly what denver needs. The ball doesnt move in denver's half court set. And as much as we want to run all the time, sometimes we are going to have to run a half court set. Especially against top tier teams like the Spurs. And god we could have used Damon Jones against them. You gotta pay for doubling Carmelo. Damon Jones can make you pay.

As for Spre, we are talking about a guy that can still get up and down the court. He was playing unhappy. You and I both know that if he wants to come in a play for Denver he would do well off the bench. I said the same thing a few years ago about Jerry Stackhouse. **** cancer this and cancer that. We could have got him from the bobcats in the expansion draft. People said he has the skills, but was going to be a problem. Those people were wrong. We had no excuse for passing on Stack then, and no excuse for passing on Spre now.

And as for Earl Boykins. You might not like how he plays, but you gotta get it through your head that he did what his coach asked. Earl needs a running mate to pass to. Earl averaged 4.5 assists last year and that number needs to rise. If you bring him and Spre in together, he has a guy to dish the ball to. As for Nene getting touches. You have three quality big men. For Nene to see more ball, you will need to see less of either Camby or Martin.

I proposed a Martin trade and their are other senerios. The point is if Kiki doesnt improve the team this off season he needs to go. If you look at this roster now and our content, you are a fool. whoever you are.

The ball doesn't move when Boykins is playing the point, otherwise, it does move.

Yes, Damon would have helped against the Spurs, but the problem is that the rest of the season, Damon wouldn't fit in very well. A healthy Vo is just as valuable in that case as Damon, so why overpay for Damon?

Stackhouse is still a ball hog and he only worked in Dallas because he was given the green light to be a ball hog. The difference is that Stackhouse has an outside shot and Spree doesn't.

I don't know nor do I believe that Spree would do well off of the bench for Denver. Frankly, he appears to have gotten old quickly and Spree's game has always hinged on his athleticism.

No, you need to reread the order of Karl's comments. Yes, at one point in the season he was asking Earl to dominate the ball, but as the season progressed, Karl was more and more upset with the way Earl played.

Earl needs to pass period before 20 seconds have left the shot clock.

Spree as a quality NBA player has passed.

You are missing the obvious and my point. Nene plays a lot of his minutes with Earl which limits his touches. If you put Spree on that second team, Nene would rarely see the ball.

The roster needs small tweaks, not drastic changes. The biggest weakness with the team are the backups at the point guard and wing positions.

why argue anything else when your basic argument is wrong. The biggest weakness on the team is starting shooting guard. Period. No ifs ands or buts. If Kiki cant bring in a Finley. Obviously its too late for Jaric.... we could be stuck with Buckner or Vo (who i like but dont want to start) starting. And that would instantly end our ability to contend for a championship this year.

When we sign free agents we should try and match up well against...the best team in the western conference. Because we gotta go through them to win a championship.

But you know you might be right. Maybe we should do a poll. Who is in favor of the Spre for Najera trade. And who is against it. I'm all for the poll. We got a great new rookie in to replace Najera. I believe it is a good deal. And i dont believe im the only one on the board that would do it.

Denver is not a contending team right now. And a little tweek aint gonna make them contenders.

Spend 4 million on Damon Jones, and hook Johnson up with the rest. That is better than some little tweek that isnt going to mean **** when we face the spurs in the playoffs.

The SG position is the 5th starter for the team. It is the position where quality depth is more important than having someone that can play 30+ minutes a game at the position.

Hodge is the future of the SG position (and we know you don't like him) and will get minutes this season. Earl will get minutes at SG. Vo will get minutes at SG. It is about having better depth and better players than last season at the position. Hodge now is better than Buckner was last season so that is a huge improvement.

Jaric wasn't enough of an improvement unless Boykins was getting shipped out. Finley would be a great fit, but even then, he probably wouldn't play over 28 MPG.

Again, Damon doesn't add anything that Vo can't do.

If you want to match up with the Spurs, focus on stopping Parker and Manu which Boykins can't do. Spree's time to do that has passed.
