DJ, waiting may cost Nuggets

DP article discussing Nuggets 2 guard hopes.

If Kiki fails to land Finley and lets DJ go to S.A. this offseason will look like a disaster imo.

I'm big on DJ and he'll help add to Denver's misery next season when he comes to town in Black and White if Kiki isn't careful.

I heard the Huston Rockets may also be interested in DerMarr Johnson. I wouldnt be suprised at all if we don't have this guy in a Nuggets uniform and I think it's a big time mistake to lose him.

Re: DJ, waiting may cost Nuggets

I just can't see why not a lot of people are on the DJ bus.

I think there was some stat like in the 71 games he suited up for Denver last season he started 40-45 of them and the Nugs won almost every game he started. I'll have to look that up, not sure how accurate I am.

I just think that at 25 years old with a nice shooting percentage (49% fg) and decent from the outside (35%) he should be a higher priority than Greg Buckner. His length 6'9'' provides uncanny defensive ability. I know he needs to get a bit quicker with his feet, but that's just a conditioning thing. You can't really expect Buck to all the sudden take over offensively or grow 5''.

Karl did keep DJ on the bench for extensive minutes after DJ started. He averaged 17 mpg last season, which is nothing. Maybe the staff knows something about him physically that we don't, but I haven't heard anything. Also when you have teams like S.A. and Houston looking at one of your guys that should give you a clue that he can play. It would be somewhat different if say the Hawks or Hornets (who took Birdman) came calling.

In Person
Aug 23 - With the Nuggets practically out of the running for Michael Finley, general manager Kiki Vandeweghe still has a hole to fill at two guard. And the team is interested in re-signing Wesley Person and Dermarr Johnson, the Rocky Mountain News reports. But they may have competition in the Nets, who lost out to the Lakers for Aaron McKie.
ESPNinsider Rumor Mill still giving me hope on my man DJ!
