Re: Fact or Fiction: Andre Miller...

FACT

Andre Miller is a Top 10 Pt Guard in the NBA.

Andre Miller isn't going to blow you away by stat's. NO, you have to watch him play! He brings a lot of intangibles to the PG position. He has size. He can defend. His biggest attributes are athleticism, Heart, and professionalism.

athleticism - Andre Miller is a good shot blocker for a pt guard. He will contest just about anybody if he has a chance on the play. I have seen him go up and try block centers dunks. He is good at taking it to the basket. He has a nice first step, but what sets him apart from most of the other PG's in the league is he can finish at the basket!Dre has the excellent passing skills as is a testement to his 01 year, when he averaged 11 dimes.

Heart - This guy wears his heart on his sleeve. When he is on the court. You know your going to get 100 percent out of him. He will take on anyone and go at anyone. His game and heart speaks volumes on the floor not to many NBA pt guards have it or will ever have it.

Professionalism - With Andre you get a confident Pt Guard. You get a Pt Guard that leads by example day in and day out. A quiet leader that lets his game do the talking. He has an old school feel to him all around. Something I really appreciate in any player!

FACT OR FICTION

Carmelo Anthony will make the All Star team this up coming season.

Andre Miller is one of the least athletic PG's in the league. I dont know where that comes from and I like Andre Miller. Also I dont know where you get hes a good shot blocker for a PG. last year he had 8 the year before that he had 25 and the year he had before that he had 11 so what are you talking about? Also You cant live off of a stat he had almost 5 years ago. In the susequent seasons since then hes avg 6.7, 6.1 and 6.9 assts per game. Hes a good NBA PG top ten most likely, but hes not what you are making him out to be.

Personal opinion? Miller is a pretty athletic point guard. He may look unconventional because he is big/broad bodied, but he makes some circus layups and can get up and dunk the ball. His 3-point shot is goofy looking, but he has nice hops and floats around the court on his little moving jumper.

I think 23AirJordan is referring to the blocks Miller has made on guys like Dirk N. He may not block a lot of shots, but he has made some pretty nice blocks from time to time. But yes, he's not a shot blocking machine for a PG.

True. The fact that Andre led the league his rookie year in assists is getting blown out of proportion, but he is passing the ball more in Denver now. But yes, it's time to quit bringing up that Cavs stat.

Ok!

Well this is a good post just to show how some people view players so differently.

I'm keeping to my original post. I'm a bit suprised you don't think Andre Miller is an athletic Pt. Guard. Keep in mind were talking about Pt. Guards here. I also come to these opinions by watching Miller play. Been a big fan of his since his days in Utah. So believe me I'm not trying to hype him up.

The only Pt Guards I would put before Miller in athleticism are-

Gilbert Arenas
Steve Francis
Stephon Marbury
Allen Iverson
Mike Bibby
Dwyane Wade
Baron Davis(when healthy)

Also something we should all keep in mind about Andres Assist drop off. The year he averaged 11 dimes he was traded to the Clippers the very next season. Then the very next season he was traded to the Nuggets. I believe this really hurt his assist production. Where as in Cleveland he had time to make his nitch. Remember it was in his 3rd season that Andre had all those assists. So now Miller will be entering his 3rd season for the Nuggets. Let's give him a chance! Although with Boykins running around and taking up a lot of minutes Miller may not be able to match the 11 dimes season.

Andre's game can't and shouldnt be reduced to just stats. I mentioned this in the first post I made about Dre. You need to watch this guy game to game because he has all the weapons. The only one he truly lacks in is his outside shooting.

You may feel I'm exaggerating about Millers shot block ability, but I don't agree. I've watched Miller enough to know he can block shots against much bigger players. To me that = athleticism and heart. Most point guards wouldnt go up against a center. Where as I've seen Miller do it on many occasions.

As far as Millers athleticism goes. Up above you will see a list of all the players I feel that are more athletic then Andre over all. Although you will see that I highlighted a few of them. Those are the only Pt Guards I feel that have better hops then Andre Miller.

So now I hope this helps address your question. When You asked you didnt know how I could come up with, and believe Andre Miller was athletic, good assist, and a shot blocking guard. It's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. By the way It's good to see another Dre fan on bbb.net.

Here is a link of a sports writer that also believes Miller is in the Top 10 for Pt Guards.

Andre Miller about to rock the rim.
