Negative a positive for Anthony:
Time for a positive article in the Nuggets forum. As we have been hit with such bad luck when it comes to injuries early on this season. Plus playing up and down all season , and now with a 8-8 record. I've been frustrated as I'm sure most of you have as well.
So back to the positive article.
I have missed Carmelo. And it's only been one game plus the game he was injured in. Since he has been out of the lineup.
Carmelo is our young leader, and I'm even more certain in my eyes along with Camby easily the most important player on the Nuggets. With out Carmelos wings this Nuggets plane won't fly.
Whats everyone's thoughts and feelings regarding the importance of Carmelo Anthony ? Feel free to share what ever your point of view is. I'm really interested in hearing some feedback.
The quotes are from a very positive article regarding Carmelo, and his injury.
Quote:
It's a frontcourt fraternity nobody wants to join.
While guards on the Denver Nuggets are busy working on lengthy consecutive-game streaks, that's hardly the case for the frontcourt players. Injuries are spreading at the same rate the flu does this time of year.
Small forward Carmelo Anthony is the latest casualty, having suffered a sprained left ankle Monday against New Jersey. Nuggets coach George Karl doesn't anticipate Anthony will play tonight at the Pepsi Center against the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets, but the injury is not considered serious.
"It sounds very optimistic," said Karl, who expects Anthony to play this weekend, although he wouldn't speculate whether he is a better candidate to return Friday against Phoenix or Saturday against Miami. "I'm definitely relieved."

Our guards have been steady and playing every game. Look at the stats below regarding Boykins and Miller. Did anyone else know this ? We have very durable guards.
Quote:
|
There has been sanity in the backcourt. Miller has played in 219 consecutive games and Earl Boykins, despite being bothered the past 1 1/2 weeks with a sprained ankle, has appeared in 247 in a row.

Camby and Martin share their thoughts on the importance of Melo.
Quote:
Anthony will be hard to replace. He had scored 20 or more points in seven of eight games before managing only two Monday.
"He's our top scorer," Martin said. "He's averaging 20 points. We're missing that 20."
Scoring was a big problem against the Nets, although Martin did step up for a season-most 26. But Camby, returning after missing a game, managed only 10 points, six under his average, and 10 rebounds, nearly four shy of his average.
"Melo is the best player on this team," said Camby, who said he felt fine Monday.
"He does a lot for us on the offensive end. As far as team-oriented and defense and all the intangibles I bring to the game, some people may say (Camby is the best). But Melo's the future of the Nuggets."
As far as the past is concerned, the record shows Anthony has been a bit more important. Over the past two seasons, the Nuggets are 2-5 when Anthony is out and 7-10 when Camby sits.

Re: Negative a positive for Anthony:
there is no doubt that Carmelo is the most influential player on the Nuggets team.
the performance we put in against New Jersey, a quality team, was very positive, the game against New Orleans was also positive as, although we lost to a fairly bad team, this was without Buckner, one of our consistent defenders, our leading scorer, and our coach who was suspended for the second time this year.
I feel if we can pull out a win in phoenix, confidence will be high and with melo and buckner back on the court and karl on the bench, a few wins are on the way, and anyway, we only have to beat Minnesota this year to clincha top 3 seed, as noone else in the NorthWest are gonna cause a problem i think

Good post melo4mvp!
Good point about the Northwest divison. It is really at best a shaky division so far this season.
I agree about New Orleans, but disagree about New Jersey. The first half wasn't good. The 1st quarter was just embarassing the way the Nuggets played.
However the second half was a good battle. Still frustrated about how that game ended. I will give you that it really was a positive to see the Nuggets claw their way back in to that game, and almost pull out the Win.
Good way of describing Melo as an influential player on the team. I always refer to him as our young leader.
