Trade secrets aren't divulged

Nuggets taking their time for any chance of a trade?

Quote:
"I doubt very much if we'll do (something soon)," Nuggets coach George Karl said Wednesday. "We're on a road trip. I'd like to win as many games as possible. I'd probably recommend waiting until after Christmas, if we do anything at all."

Today is the first day players who signed as free agents during the off- season can be traded. Nuggets point guard Earl Watson, who has played sparingly after signing a five- year, $29 million contract in September, is among those now eligible to be moved.

Nuggets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe also has said today is the first day he will consider trading guard Voshon Lenard because there are more options available. Lenard, who has played little this season, has asked to be dealt.

Vandeweghe said the Nuggets were granted an additional tool for making a trade. They received from the NBA a $1.52 million disabled- player exception because Nene likely is out for the season because of an injury to his right knee.

Vandeweghe said the exception expires Monday but wouldn't speculate on the chances of it being used.

The Nuggets, who didn't use a $1.6 million disabled-player exception they received last season after Lenard suffered a torn left Achilles' tendon, could take a pass on this one because it might not be a large enough amount to land an impact player and they currently don't have a roster spot.

Then again, Watson wonders if he could end up creating one.

"It could be (today) until the trading deadline (of Feb. 23)," he said. "You can't think every day is judgment day as far as being moved. . . . It's a part of the business. . . . I'm not married. I don't have any kids. So, it's just me. It's easy."
