Carmelo should be ashamed of referring to he, Lebron, and Wade as a "group". There's nothing he has done that warrants him putting himself on a level with those two. Lebron and Wade have "earned the right" to work out shorter deals. Carmelo hasn't, and I would hope Nuggets laugh him off when his agent brings it up.

and im not sure why the nuggets would laugh at him? almost any other team would gladly sign him for 3 years if denver doesnt...

You do realize the reason behin the shorter deal, right? By signing a shorter deal, these guys are giving themselves more leverage for that third contract, which will put the teams at a disadvantaged bargaining spot.

Carmelo doesn't have anything to do with Lebron and Wade. Lebron and Wade were substantial MVP candidates, and Wade won the finals MVP. Carmelo hasn't touched that territory, and is crazy to think he can rethink his contract based on what Lebron and Wade are doing.

This is the United States of America. He'd be crazy not to rethink his contract. Now that doesnt mean Denver has to give it to him, but if he wants it he should try and get it. I've been saying this for a long time now, but Carmelo hasn't had the kind of help Wade or even Lebron has had. Quite frankily Melo never got the recognition he deserves. There first year in the league most analyists and fans were picking the Cavs to make the playoffs, because Lebron was "the better player", and they were in the east. Low and behold the Denver Nuggets make the playoffs in the west. And the samething happens the following year. While the Cavs dont in the east. Before you dont allow Carmelo (or Chris Bosh for that matter) into this exclusive group... Id wait until they have a team around them that can do something. For that matter, maybe thats why Carmelo wants the three year deal, because he doesn't want to have to deal with 5 Clipper defenders being run at him when nobody else on the team can knock down a shot.
