Which teams would want KMart at a Blue Light Special

What teams do you think would be interested in Kenyon Martin...lets try not to start throwing in trade ideas right off until we get some teams and maybe some parts to discuss.

Re: Which teams would want KMart at a Blue Light Special

I'll do the East

Atlantic
Boston - They'd have to give up on their PF of the future in Al Jefferson
NJ - Would seem like a yes, but the owner doesn't want to pay the Luxury Tax and Krstic will need a new contract and Vince will need extended
NY - Easy to say yes, however, they appear to be committed to Frye & Curry up front
Philly - They have Webber
Toronto - No, not with Bosh and Bargnani

Central
Chicago - Would Skiles want a player that had problems with Karl. Plus they just draft Tyrus
Cleveland - Possibly as a healthy Kenyon is better than Gooden
Detroit - Maybe
Indy - Maybe if they can't get Harrington
Milwaukee - No, not with Bogut and CV

SE
Atlanta - No, would interfere with Josh and Marvin
Charlotte - No, too much invested in Okafor & May
Miami - Most likely not as they love Haslem
Orlando - No, Double D's have the front court
Washington - Maybe, but would require a restructing of the team

Re: Which teams would want KMart at a Blue Light Special

The West

SOUTHWEST
Dallas Mavericks: Yes, but pieces coming back may not be what Denver needs.
Houston Rockets: Yes, Houston could use a PF to protect Yao, but Swift didn't work...would Kenyon?
Memphis Grizzlies: Possibly, PF is their weak spot if Pau Pau plays center.
New Orleans Hornets: No, David West is coming along and Chandler and KMart are similar players.
San Antonio Spurs: Uh No, team is set.

NORTHWEST:
Minnesota T-Wolves: I don't think Denver would be willing to deal w/ Minny.
Portland T-Blazers: Randolph deal already discussed. Youth movement instead in Portland.
Seattle Supersonics: NO, they don't want to pay Wilcox so why gamble w/ Kenyon.

PACIFIC:
Golden State Warriors: Yes, Murphy for Kenyon would work. Kenyon could flourish w/ Davis and Rich.
LA Clippers: No, Brand and Kaman are on lock down.
LA Lakers: Possibly, Kenyon would bring toughness to Kobe & Kobe.
Phoenix Suns: Probably not, Amare is still trying to get healthy. But Kenyon's style would fit.
Sac-Town Kings: Yes, they need an upgrade over Kenny Thomas, but wont gamble big (no Bibby).

Swift didn't work because his lack of BBall IQ didn't mesh with JVG. JVG doesn't tolerate mental errors. This is where the attempted comparisons between Swift and Kenyon always fall apart.

Yeah I think we all remember the BBall IQ talk when it was suggested Swift be dealt to Denver awhile back.

I was talking more of the athletic PF thing. Houston isn't known for pushing the pace, but with Kenyon and TMac the fast break could work effectively at times and allow Yao to get some rest and stay back on D.

But really would Kenyon work there? He doesn't really have a post up game and neither does Yaoza. Actually Yao is coming along nicely. I'll just answer this myself...Kenyon would probably work well in Houston because who couldn't use an athletic PF on a fairly non-athletic team, well at least they were non-athletic last year.

Potential Lineup:
1.) Rafer Alston - loves to run.
2.) TMac - can run
3.) Battier - stabalizer
4.) KMart - intimidator / dunker and high flyer
5.) Yaoza - vastly stepping up game at the right time.

Actually a scary starting 5...

^^

Rockets dont have anything to trade for KMart.

Plus I dont think hed be a good fit. Kenyon needs to get buckets on fastbreaks and cuts and mid range jumpers. He wont get that in Houston. He wouldnt be able to get buckets in such a slow pace. In Houston they pound the ball into Yao or let T-Mac create and everybody else gets open jumpers. 11 million is a little much for a guy who doesnt fit.

I really think the Knicks might want him. If theyre playing uptempo and need to improve their interior D and rebounding then KMarts the guy.

You can't deny that Rafer, TMac and Kmart would push the tempo from time to time. But overall I think Houston is too slow paced too.

Houston needs somebody that can rebound and take defensive pressure off of Yao which what they were hoping Stro would do.

As an aside, Kenyon's FG% has increased the past 2 years and so has the % of his shots that are jumpers which translates into him being more effective in mid range than you are giving him credit for.
