Kleiza a wing player?

This quote is pretty telling about the Nuggets expectations of Kleiza. It appears they want him playing as many minutes at the 4 as Melo does.

Quote:
Warkentien said the trade of Patterson should open up minutes for young wing players Linas Kleiza and Yakhouba Diawara, but Karl did not rule out acquiring another swingman.

This quote doesn't say anything of Kleiza's role.

Obviously by dishing Rubes to the Bucks it frees up minutes for guys already on the roster. Kleiza and Diawara need time to play the nucleus of the team is young...

Melo 22
Nene 23
Diawara 20 something
Kleiza 20 something
JR 21

So these young guys need time to mesh. Once again the team needs to mesh. The only problem is the best defensive player and rebounder is 33...(Camby) and Miller isn't getting any younger.

May as well trade Camby now and try to build for the future.

Sure it does. If Warkentien is refering to Kleiza only as a wing player that says a lot.

Re: Kleiza a wing player?

He is playing the 3 with the Lithuanian NT and reportedly he is doing very well.

Camby is only BARELY 32. He turned 32 3 days before I turned 31.

No, Thomas and his guys weren't the only ones in the wrong Saturday. The Nuggets have their own issues. But when it was over, at least they weren't crying, at least they weren't punking.

It's all gone in New York now – the pride, the respect, the dignity. This isn't just a bad team; this is a bad act. A once proud franchise and fan base brought to its knees as its pathetic coach makes excuses and whines for mercy.

Thats why I was thinking trade camby the first time he successfully came back from injury for us. Then we gave him that big contract and brought in martin... and I knew we were going to have an injury riddled front line. But we had Nene so I wasnt overly concerned. Now all three have injury riddled pasts.

You cant trade Camby until Nene comes in and plays like we expect him too. When guys get into there 30s they generally lose some of their athleticism and put on bulk. Doesnt seem to be the case with camby his prime could extend well into his mid 30s. So I dont think you have to trade him at this point. Personally based on his past at some point you have to start looking at deals, but that could be 2 or 3 years down the road.

I had been thinking for some time though that guys like Dre and Camby wont be on this team in a few years when they are winning titles with Melo

BARELY 32? He's 32 and 5 months...just about 32 and 1/2 in 15 days!

Plus the season starts in November so he'll be 33 before the season ends...in March. Point is he's the opposite age of the nucleus...32...Nene 23.

I just don't think realistically this team will win a ring in the next year or two with the pieces it has. Either get some ballers or cut bait and reload. Stop half and halfin' it.

Re: Kleiza a wing player?

Anybody see the shoving match Kleiza and Melo got into during international play the other day?

Pretty funny...total accident...Melo got shoved into Linas and he took offense and shoved Melo and gave him the "I ate rocks growing up" stare down. Good stuff. Teammates baby!
