Some more positive reports on Kenyon's knee
link
Quote:
And Martin seems ready to produce. After two injury-plagued seasons, Martin's left knee is again, using his word, "springy."
Make that very springy.
On Tuesday during the Nuggets' first practice at Fort Lewis College, Martin caught a bounce pass 18 feet from the basket and decided it would be a fine time to slam.
He took one dribble, two huge steps, rose a foot above the rim and dunked with two hands. Those kinds of dunks mean you never have to say you're sorry.
"You're back!" center Marcus Camby shouted to Martin.
On Wednesday afternoon, Camby sat courtside and laughed as he remembered Martin's sky ride.
"Oh, yeah," Camby said. "He's back. He's jumping. He's dunking. He's high flying. I think he's ready to travel back."
Traveling back could produce a surprising season for Martin, and the Nuggets. During the New Jersey Nets' ride to the 2003 and 2004 NBA Finals, Martin averaged 19 points and nearly 10 rebounds. These numbers inspired the Nuggets to pay him $92.5 million over seven seasons.
Soon after arriving in Colorado, his knees were so sore it hurt to climb stairs. He couldn't play with his three children. As he struggled in games and practices, the rage he once directed at opponents turned toward himself and teammates and coaches.
Nuggets forward Eduardo Najera considers Martin a friend. "I'm not going to lie," Najera said. "He's actually a good guy."
He doesn't condone Martin's explosive words during the playoffs, but he understands. Martin, frustrated by his sore knees, could no longer control his fury.
"Everyone thinks there was something wrong with his head when there was something wrong with his body," Najera said.
Karl declines to psycho-analyze Martin, but seems ready to forgive his power forward, perhaps because the coach has little choice. Karl knows NBA coaches must make peace with stars.
"He has been contrite with me," Karl said. "You know, I personally think all of this is in the past. I don't think I'm going to talk about it again."

Re: Some more positive reports on Kenyon's knee
We heard all this crap last season. Until Kenyon plays a consistent stretch of games without any pain, I'm not hopping on the bandwagon.
I still can't believe we didn't trade him. I refuse to believe there were no viable offers out there.
Oh well. The best case scenario at this point is that truly is healthy and provides Denver with what he provided New Jersey.

Hey, if he's healthy, then we'll look smart for NOT trading him.

Why is that so hard to believe? What team would have been willing to give up anything slightly decent for him?

Re: Some more positive reports on Kenyon's knee
Martin's knees were fine when he had a wide open dunk waiting for him. It went back to hurting the rest of the game.
His problem is he can't compete against True PF's. He isn't young enough to play SF anymore like he did in Joisy at times. I think he needs to be moved around to protect him on the floor. Trouble is The Nugs get hurt a lot so his problems are hard to hide.

No, Thomas and his guys weren't the only ones in the wrong Saturday. The Nuggets have their own issues. But when it was over, at least they weren't crying, at least they weren't punking.
It's all gone in New York now – the pride, the respect, the dignity. This isn't just a bad team; this is a bad act. A once proud franchise and fan base brought to its knees as its pathetic coach makes excuses and whines for mercy.

Kenyon is a top tier power forward when he is healthy. Even at 70%, he's better than most.
We can't get a late first rounder for him, or a couple of second rounders? We can't get anything of value that makes sense? I refuse to believe it.
Kenyon wasn't healthy last season, but that his projected value far outweighs his injury problems.

I think they need to give Kenyon a new nickname... "Career Day"
If you know they game, you know what I mean.
