DENVER (AP) _ Nuggets owner Stan Kroenke said he's optimistic Denver will get the 2005 NBA All-Star Game.
``If you're around NBA people, they're talking very strongly about Denver getting the All-Star Game,'' Kroenke said Thursday after the draft lottery at the NBA Entertainment studios in Secaucus, N.J.
The NBA recently announced Denver would get either the 2005, '06 or '07 game and that a decision would be made during this year's NBA Finals.
The All-Star Game was last played in Denver in 1984.
Ski Austin, senior vice president of the NBA's events and attractions group, has met with Denver officials. He said the Nuggets were aggressive with their bid.
``They've done a very good job of putting in a very appealing bid,'' Austin said. ``We want to be ready to make an announcement during the finals.''
