Denver Trades:
Najera, Diawara, 2nd rounder. Denver gets, Juan Carlos Navarro, Antonio Daniels

Supposedly Washington wont just accept a late first for Navarro. So why doesnt denver step in and take a contract the Post says they want to move. Plus give them expiring deals back so they feel they can go out and bring back Blatche. Supposedly Navarro's team is only giving him another week to land in the NBA. Otherwise they are locking him in to a new contract with a huge buyout. Grunfeld wont be picky. He will take that offer.

Denver sends Marcus Camby to LA for Kwame Brown, Brian Cook, and LA's first round pick.
The price LA pays for not sending Bynum is Cook and their first. Cook is a perimeter big. He can spot up and hit shots off of a Melo or Nene kickout. Cook actually would fit well with Denver. Brown simply comes off the books this summer. That future first can be stockpiled with denvers pick. Could be used to help trade up into the lotto next year. The lotto will be deep. So I wouldnt be shocked if denver could trade into say the tenth pick and land someone as good as say Kevin Love for instance. Good year to have two first round picks.
Backcourt players: Iverson, Navarro, Atkins, JR Smith, Antonio Daniels, Carter, Wafer
Frontcourt players: Anthony, Nene, Kenyon Martin, Reggie Evans, Brian Cook, Kleiza, Sampson, Brown
Outside of Nene the team doesnt really have true center (kwame brown counts i suppose). But thats not unlike many teams in the league. The way denver wants to run this roster would give teams a lot of problems. We all know that if Melo has shooters around him..... he is the best player in the world (well he does have that award).

I guess this includes the coach, players and all the other stuff. The website is currently guaging interest in the IBL. It isn't the pros but it still is basketball. Nuggets used too much of their MLE on Atkins to be able to give Navarro a contract that he would want if they were to just acquire his draft rights.

The Wizards have no way of S&Ting him because you can S&T somebody you sign with the MLE (plus, the Wizards have used a large chunk of their MLE on Stevenson anyways)

Based on what i know about the salary cap. Atkins got 6.6 million over two years. If its not front loaded he could be paid as low as 3.14 million his first year.
the MLE is 5.215.
Navarro could have a starting salary as high as 2.075 million. Or a two year deal worth 4.36 million. The Wizards have a week to make a deal. Navarro would like 3 years at 12 million. Basically he wants 4 million a year and teams like the Nuggets can give him just over 2.
Again he's a 2nd round draft pick, so 2 million for a year isnt horrible either. Its a tough situation. The Wizards have to lower their standards (to find a trading partner) and he has to agree to a contract in a week. this is exactly why denver should investigate this. Especially if he ends up getting traded to a team in a similar situation. If he really wants to make the nba he will take a 2 year deal for 4.36 million. And his agent will make sure that 2nd year is a player option.
If Navarro gets traded and gets a contract for 3 years at 12 million all done in a week... that will be impressive.
I'm just saying talking about Navarro would make more sense then these superstar blockbusters for denver. I'm not advocating this deal is good for washington, but it appears to be one they would be interested in. they get a pick and unload contracts. Then Denver unloads a contract of their own in a seperate transaction with the lakers. Camby is an oustanding player. But its a team like the Lakers or other teams that are in these self absorbing win now (or trade me) dramas that we need to trade camby to. Personally even if we dont get Bynum, the expiring contract plus cook and a pick arent a horrible replacement for it.

The contract you are proposing means Navarro is losing money to play in the NBA because of his buyout. He won't agree to a contract like that.

If Navarro was willing to accept 2 million a year, there would be a lot more teams lining up to trade for him. As it is, the Wizards want to use his rights to move one of their two centers that don't get along.

i'm totally aware of this. i am just going on the info i've read. navarro's agent mentioned the miami has a portion of the mle and an lle to use, so he didnt anticipate any signing problems if traded to the heat.
thats just what i read... his agent said. i know his buyout is three million. but his own agent mentioned the LLE. was quoted. so i've got to imagine he would take the buyout. take a short term one year deal or one year with opt out. then he can do what good 2nd round picks do and sign a big deal one year into the nba.
with this one week deadline, i just get the distinct impression his agent would do that rather than stay in europe.

he'd lose a million this year if he took two million. but it sounds like he could make what he is asking for now in europe.... without paying a buyout. so if he is coming to the nba why not take that risk and go for the big money. otherwise just sign another big contract overseas.
if he signs for 3 million........ he makes nothing. so why come to the nba.... maybe to make 5 or 6 million a year next summer? .... or figure out you dont like the nba and go back to europe
