I love where Kiki is taking the Nuggets

First off i'm real excited to see the new uniforms on draft day.
Our current ones aren't bad at all, but i have a feeling that these new ones will have a nice retro feel to them judging by the sucess of our rainbow skyline jerseys last year. And to think we changed from those because they were considered " the ugliest uniforms in the league" and now u see them everywhere.

Kiki has done an amazing job with the Nugs ..... and it shouldn't surprise anyone he was instrumental in helping build the Mavs. Except he has improved on that formula by finding himself a Defensive minded coach in Jeff B.

Kiki Dumped all of Issells "huge contact" mistakes ... Tariq Abdul Wahed and Avery Johnson.
He dumped a talented cancer Nick Van Exel and his big contract.
And the most remarkable thing he did in the 1st place was to actually take the chance to leave the Mavs for the Nugs in the 1st place.
Also he got outstanding value for Antonio McDyess who was not going to come back. He got Nene Hilario and Marcus Camby in that deal .... which is a lot more than we got for Mutombo, KClark, BJackson, and Jalen Rose combined.

So where are we at now?

We have Nene who has already proven a lot (in a lot quicker time than most expected) who could end up being a 20-10 guy easy.

We have Skita who has the skills to be special ..... and we all knew he wasn't gonna do much the 1st yr. Look at what Nowitzki did his 1st year.

We are gonna have Carmelo who could be another Tracy McGrady or at least if he stays injury free and headcase fee (which it appears he will) a guy who could put up Michael Finley type #'s

We have Rodney White .....hmmmm could be good, bad, or gone who knows?...but he is a young talent.

We have Junior Harrington and Vince Yarbrough who are both gonna be at least good back-ups.

We have 22 Mil .... which means we probably are gonna have Gilbert Arenas + 14 mil more.

Lots to look forward to this year and espescially the years after that. The West is on top now...but not for long. The Nugs are gonna be maturing right around the time that Shaq starts to Age and become a good but not dominant center.

Around the Time that Phil Jackson retires and Kobe possibly decides to leave LA and prove what he can do on hos "own" team.

Around the time that the Blazers completely break down.

Around the time that Mark Cuban decides that he needs to do a mini-rebuild himself and gets sick of paying a luxury tax on guys like Wahad and A.johnson.

Around the time that Minn. finally gets to draft in the 1st round again.

The future looks great. We have the right GM,Coach, and players to compete sooner than expected.

Kiki is to the nugs as Shanahan is to the Broncos.

likely players on the nugs this year:
Hilario ( did some1 say next Karl Malone)?
Skita (7 footers with a SG-SF game are so rare)
Carmelo ( think of all the guys who are big in the league now who never took their NCAA team anywhere close to the NCAA championship ....Iverson,PPierce,SFranchise,Marbury etc.... this guy did it all in 1 yr and won MOP in the final 4)
i could go on and on.....+ Arenas is looking like a done deal to me.

go nuggets!

I agree.
Denve his in prime position to surprise a bunch of people the next 2-3 years (not next year...).

They have young talent in Nene and (hopefully) Carmelo, to build the team around.
They have some other players with great potential (which is always a roll of the dice...) like Skita and White.
But, most of all, they have enough money to attract quality free agents (Arenas?).

The moment the Nuggets are in and the expectations they are raising have a lot to do with Kiki, who has been doing a great job.

I would predict the 2003-04 Nuggets to be a 27- 55 team; from there on the sky is the limit.

Great post! You really summed up the nugz situation. I think that with our free agent money we should get maggette and arenas, and if we can-kandi. I would love for us to get another first and pick up sopho, he could be our future center, and him and nene would be a very good frontcourt. Also, i wouldnt mind shipping out white and camby this summer, i see them as having no real future on our team.

Btw, we would have 22 mil in cap space, but it is more like 18 because we are still paying cory alexander, mark jackson and tim hardaway.
