JR Smith to Detroit for Flip Murray?

http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_ar...r_smith_trade/

Personally, I dont' see this happening. What this DOES tell me is that George Karl has won the battle and will get JR out of town eiher before the season, or very soon after the season starts.

In my opinion, I think it would be too soon to let this guy go. Before his incident at the Garden, he was our sparkplug that carried the team in the second scorer's role. When Melo was out, he WAS the man. Melo comes back from suspension and he's welcomed with open arms. JR comes back and he's nearly immediately ousted by Karl.

Whatup wit' dat?

We all know the issues surrounding the playoffs and JR and GK, but this is a new season. JR is young...he's staretd slowly, but he's starting to get his legs back again.

HIS BIGGEST LIABILITY IS HIS DEFENSE...but to be fair, not many Nuggs players are good at D (except Camby).

If we trade JR Smith, we need draft picks and a solid 3 point threat that can fit in the system. I really would like to look into a guy like Jamal Crawford...or maybe even a young unknown who we could get cheaply to help the luxury tax sitaution.

I could see us keeping B-Jones to help out at the 2 if we traded JR for picks and a backup SG/PG.

Eh...who cares till it happens, right?

Re: JR Smith to Detroit for Flip Murray?

I like it. Murray fits much better in Denver, and he can atleast play some defense. He'd do awesome for them as a 2-4 option on any given night. J.R. in Detroit would give us someone with an extreme amount of athelticism and a proven 2-guard off the bench. Flip fighting with Stuckey for minutes just isn't going to work.

Re: JR Smith to Detroit for Flip Murray?

I don't know. I'd hate to let JR go, he's just got so much of an upside. On the other hand, the Nuggets need a SG. Flip Murray isn't the one though. They need a defender who can stand and shoot. Nobody like Flip, or Crawford, or Salmons who need the ball to be effective.

Re: JR Smith to Detroit for Flip Murray?

Agreed. Flip really isn't an accomplished shooter. He's more of a volume scorer, although I do like his game.

Re: JR Smith to Detroit for Flip Murray?

His game speaks volumes, but so do the games when he drifts and goes for 0 points on 0 for 0 shooting in 22 minutes.

Too bad Bryant Stith isnt' around...he'd play wicked D and hit some good shots for us. We just need a defender who can knock down the treys.

Melo's a star not to mention the franchise player of this team, while JR can be a bonehead ON the court at times. Dont get me wrong JR is great and has a lot of talent but I totatlly can see why Karls opinion of him has dropped after that playoff series. I was even angry with Karl for not yanking him sooner. As much as i like JRs talent I wouldnt mind trading him just so he never gets a chance to make me that disgusted with him again come playoff time.

and I agree with you someone like Jamal Crawford would be nice but prolly not someone Denver would go after with the kind of money he makes.

Re: JR Smith to Detroit for Flip Murray?

just what the Nuggets need a 6'3 guard who shoots 27% from the 3 point line. Stupid move for the Nuggets, and it appears the Pistons want to throw in Dupree and the Nuggets dont want him.
im starting to think there is some money issues involved. otherwise it is just pure stupidity. never hear any rumors of the nuggets going after any players whos contract isnt expiring.....maybe thats why they wont trade Najera...because hes coming off their books.
If it is coming down to $$$ I hope either Kenyon plays well enough to get traded or he retires and the Nuggets get the insurance.
Talking to the Blazers about James Jones would make more sense than this.

Re: JR Smith to Detroit for Flip Murray?

This deal would make no sense. If we really need to ship out J.R., let's use him as filler in a George Karl-for-Phil Jackson trade. Not sure if that works under the cap, though...
