Nuggs making serious effort at acquiring Mike Miller

Clippers And Nuggets Most Interested In Lowry And Miller
February 20, 2008 - 11:13 am
Commercial Appeal -
According to the Commercial Appeal, the Clippers and Nuggets are the two teams making the most serious push to acquire Mike Miller and Kyle Lowry from the Grizzlies.

"I don't worry about it," Lowry said. "It's my agent's job to worry about it. My job is to go out there and play for the Grizzlies. I'm too young to worry about getting traded."

This could be nice, if handled appropriately. We'd obviously send Najera and his expiring contract packing, along with a first round draft pick (not a problem since Karl doesn't play rookies), Von Wafer (was already discussed for Lowry earlier), and probably Kleiza.

I'd hate to see Kleiza go, but I'd rather us get Mike Miller than ARtest fi we had to get rid of him.

Incoming: Lowry and Miller, second rounde pick
Outgoing: Najera, Kleiza OR JR, Von Wafer, first round pick

Woudl you do it?

Re: Nuggs making serious effort at acquiring Mike Miller

no. shooting is not their primary need, or even close. It does make them a little better, but if they'll give up Kleiza anyways, get artest and go for JJ Redick, or somebody of that mold. Artest shores up their primary weakness, Miller helps with their third.

Lowry is a stud. I really like him for Denver. Mike Miller would be great too. Denver REALLY needs a stopper though. These two guys are just upgrades. Artest is perfect, but his position doesn't fit.

If Denver can keep onto Kleiza that'll help a lot.

Re: Nuggs making serious effort at acquiring Mike Miller

WHat about Nene? If Denver could ship him out for Miller, they could fit Artest at the starting PF. I could see Memphis biting on Nene. He still has game. He was something like 12/8/1/1 when he was healthy last year wasn't he?

Carter
Iverson
Melo
Artest
Camby

Miller
K-Mart

Re: Nuggs making serious effort at acquiring Mike Miller

When Nene is healthy and starting, he's an 18/9 guy.

I'd actually do that trade...if we could utilize Ron at the PF...even though our biggest weakness is perimeter D. We've still got KMart inside.

I dont' knwo anymore...

There's no reason Artest can't play SG. He can guard anybody on the wing, and he forces a mismatch in the post playing against them.

I'm hesitant to give up Nene. I know he's injury prone, and has a huge contract, but when he's on, he's more than worth it. Plus, giving up Nene and Najera is just not a good thing to me.

They need to shore up their front court. If Martin goes out after they trade Najera, they're in trouble.

Get Oakley!

Putting Artest at the 2 will make A.I. the playmaker again. That doesn't always work that well...

Re: Nuggs making serious effort at acquiring Mike Miller

I don't like this deal for Memphis, I'd rather they not do a deal with Denver. Not sure how good Kleiza would fit in here and even though we're getting expirings and a low first round pick, I think we could do better dealing with another team. Putting Lowry in the deal also really ruins it for me, I feel like we could do way better for those two.

Nene's the last thing Memphis is looking for.

If the team deals Miller, it'll be for a shorter contract plus either 1) someone takes Brian Cardinal or 2) gives us a decent lottery-ish draft pick somewhere in the teens or 3) gives us a cheaper prospect a la Kleiza.
