With no addition like Artest or M. Miller to shake things up, Denver will have to scramble to stay on track for the bottom half of the WC playoff slate.

Reasonable things to hope for throughout this season's second semester are...

1) Camby and Martin stay on the court and in one piece.
2) Anthony continues his rebounding tear.
3) Carter continues to overachieve in little ways.

Pipe dreams that I'd love to see include...

1) Nene returns well ahead of schedule, and ready to hit the ground running.
2) Iverson takes it as a personal challenge to average 10 apg the rest of the way. His shot attempts go down and FG% goes up accordingly.
3) J.R. Smith attends a Tony Robbins seminar and emerges a new man. He earns his way toward 25 mpg as a shooter and defender.
4) George Karl is kicked upstairs or out to pasture, and is replaced by a reenergized Larry Brown.

March is a tough month. I hope Nene and Atkins get back.

The only way they do anything in the playoffs is if Nene comes back full strength, and I doubt it.

By the way, I now hate Karl. If I see him, I'll slap him in the face.

well, at least we'll have that to look foward to when we're watching the other teams in the playoffs.

He's got 2 years remaining on his contract. My bet is that we have him at least that long.

Even if he doesn't make the second round for the fourth time in a row? Golden State knocked off the first seed. The excuses have to stop somewhere.

The Nets just waived Jamaal Magloire. He must be having a righteously sucky year to be dumped by New Jersey, but unless he's totally lost his mind and instincts I wonder if he'd be worth a flyer on Denver's part. I think he's 29 yrs. old, and isn't THAT far removed from his brief days as an all-star.
