Melo not envious of LeBron
Link
He plays more than 1,500 miles from his hometown of Baltimore - or as he calls it, "B-more" - not less than an hour from friends and family, as LeBron James does. He's on national television three times this season compared with LeBron's 14 and plays his home games in a time zone (Mountain) not only ignored by network television ("8 Eastern, 7 Central, and 5 Pacific"), but too late to get the results of many of his games into East Coast newspapers.
He also makes about $30 million in endorsements, compared to LeBron's $100 million plus. In other words, for going two picks lower in the draft, he gets less than one-third the coin.
Poor Carmelo Anthony. The jealousy must be killing him.
"Hell, no," he said, flashing the smile he brings to Continental Arena tonight to face the Nets in his only New Jersey appearance.
It's a smile that says as much about the difference between him and LeBron - two teenagers already identifiable by first names alone - than anything else. There's LeBron with the prematurely receding hairline of a man far older than his 19 years and a visage straight from Mount Rushmore, and then there's Carmelo with his braids and a manner that softens his 19 years down to 15 or 16.
