Sheed and Okur top 5 FA's according to Chad Ford

Chard Ford has a top fifteen list of upcoming Free Agents:

1. Kobe Bryant
2. Kenyon Martin (R)
3. Rasheed Wallace
4. Steve Nash
5. Mehmet Okur (R)
6. Erick Dampier
7. Emanuel Ginobili (R)
8. Stromile Swift (R)
9. Mark Blount
10. Jamal Crawford (R)
11. Quentin Richardson (R)
12. Darius Miles (R)
13. Vlade Divac
14. Adonal Foyle
15. Andres Nocioni

Both Sheed and Memo are in the Top 5. Here's what it says about Sheed and Memo...

Quote:
Sheed
The skinny: Subsequent to the Pistons winning the World title, most just assumed Sheed would re-sign in Detroit. Detroit can offer Sheed more cash than anyone else, and he seems like a perfect fit in Detroit. However, he has taken the position that the $$$ doesn't matter and he desires to find a team/city where his family is happy. Detroit is still the heavy favorite to re-sign him, but 2 teams -- Philly and NYK -- could be in the running. Sheed grew up in Philadelphia and has always thought about playing there. He has made no secret of this for the past 12 months. However, if he chooses either team, Detroit would have to agree to a sign-and-trade or Wallace would have to take a pay cut and play for the MLE (beginning salary of about five million dollars).

Okur
The skinny: There's not many big men available, and a several teams are going to be interested in Memo now that it looks like Detroit won't re-sign him. Earlier in the season, the team appeared interested in re-signing Memo at any cost. But LB wasn't a backer, and Memo whined on the bench the last several months of the season after being replaced in the rotation with Sheed. Memo wants out, and unless Wallace leaves the Pistons, there's little that the Messiah, Joe D (who would like Memo back at the right price) can do. Without clearing more cap room, the most Detroit can offer Memo is the MLE. Phoenix, Utah and Denver are all believed to be preparing to make offers starting in the six million to seven million dollar-a-year area. Today it seems that Phoenix is the front-runner to get Memo.
What if Sheed leaves? What if Sheed and Memo leave? What do we do? Thoughts...?

until i read the comments brought to my attention by the heff on insidehoops.com , i had no thought of us losing sheed and havinf to go with memo. i love memo I think that he is an awesome talent but I think that I always thought that sheed would be a piston next year. I am worried though

I agree he probably is a bit overrated. I would probably switch him with Blount on your list.

I doubt that SHEED will leave the Pistons.

I think he found a home with them especially after winning a championship.

I think that he'd be a fool to leave now when he has the opportunity to win another one.

No team in the NBA would take Dampier over Okur next season. Dampier gets his points from put-backs, dunks, etc. He's a Ben Wallace clone, only worse. Okur has shooting range that extends out to three-point land, can post up, fadeaway, etc. I will make you a bet. Mehmet Okur gets more money than Erick Dampier.

I guarentee you the Pacers would take Dampier over Okur. What's the matter with getting points from put-backs and dunks? 2 points from a put back is just as good as two points from a post up or fadeaway. Okur's non-existent defense is a joke compared to Dampier's excellent defense and rebounding. That more than makes up for the 1 or 2 three pointers if that, that Okur will make a game.

That's why you're not running the Pacers. If it came down to Dampier or Okur at the full MLE, it'd be Okur. 2 points from a put back is not just as good as 2 points from a post up. Okur is a viable offensive threat on the floor, if you box out Dampier, you can take him away from the game. Okur's defense is very underrated; in fact, I have no clue how you can have any business saying how it's non-existent when you only see him 4 times a year in the regular season, and when you do, I highly doubt you're scouting Okur's defense.

I'd bet a lot of teams would, including the Spurs, Lakers, Timberwolves, Pacers, Mavericks, Nets, Heat and Kings.
