Will McDyess contribute?
The Pistons just subbed Memo for one of the best power forwards of the 1990s. If it weren't for injury McDyess would be a KG on a bad team. However, he has been hutr the last five years. Do yout hink he will be healthy and be a good player and positive contributor for Detroit? I think he will be about what Memo was, a little bit better and I don't think he'll get hurt.

OMG yes. I mean if his injury is SO bad that he'd be healthy nowhere like a Grant Hill, then no. But if it's something where he can be great in short doses then yes. Think about it. Coming off the bench for Rasheed and Wallace? Along with Darko and Elden? Short minutes will give McDyess a chance to show his worth and keep his stamina. Good move Joe D. How good is Joe D? I say he'll go down as executive of the decade.....and that in a league with Jerry West as a GM!!

He was very nice for Phoenix in a limited role once returning this past season. If the Pistons use him in a similar fashion, he'll most certainly be a contributor.

mcdyess lost a lot of the athleticism that made him a freak, but he still has a very nice, consistent jumper out to about 15 feet.
he will be productive.

Dice, albeit a china-doll will be a terrific back-up for Ben and Sheed. IF, and big IF he stays 100% fit, he'll be a great 6th man.

I don't think so.
He'll be a dissapointment like Campbell. I mean Elden did a little bit, but not much.

Agreed, I see no reason why he can't be just as effective as Okur was last season. If he gets injured, they have Darko to use in a limited role.

? Dude, I don't know if you watched the NBA FINALS, but Elden Cambell was HUGE for Detroit gaurding Shaq.
He started for Detroit for 20+ games last year, and did well. Having SO many bigmen is awesome. You can never really get into foul trouble.
If "Dice" comes back to just 70% of his former self Detroit has the 6th man of the year sitting next to Darko.
How scary is that?

He did okay, but they were talking about unloading him most of the time. He wasn't really worth the whole MLE like James Posey. Jim Jackson was also better but got paid less, etc.

I think if Antonio McDyess can stay healthy, which is a big question mark, he can definitely contribute to the Pistons. He seems like just the type of player that fits into Detroit's style of play. He is a hard nosed player who likes to bang around. Joe Dumars has done a great job of building the Pistons squad to his own style.
A healthy frontline of Ben Wallace, Rasheed Wallace, and Antonio McDyess is quite formadable, especially in the Eastern conference. Whether they choose to start McDyess or bring him off the bench I think he adds another very solid piece to Detroit's puzzle in the organizations quest to build a dynasty. Another very good signing by the Pistons.
Antonio McDyess:

i think this would be a good pickup for the pistons. it adds to bench depth and he can back up ben or sheed. he is experienced and still has good athletic ability, he'll rebound and bring some offensive game. his minutes would be cut down so him getting injured is less likely

Campbell provided depth, insurance and a big veteran presence for Detroit throughout the season and especially in the playoffs. He did enough to help the Pistons win a championship so I am fine with his current salary and place on the depth chart. Elden comes off the books after this season so its not like hes stuck there for 4-5 more years.
McDyess should bring similar production that Okur had last year (10 and 6) but more consistency with greater overall defense and athleticism.
