Well it's finally here
We meet Miami in the ECF just like everyone anticipated for the majority of the season. Lot's of interesting matchups and stories in this one... Can't wait to get it started on Monday.

We've been underdogs all year. Nobody has respected us as champions. We'll go into the next series liking our chances."

I feel good going into this series. We're the underdog, we've been hearing about Miami all year, and the only reason people give us a shot is because "we're the defending champs". Can't wait to get it on...

I can't wait. I hope Shaq is 100% because I can't wait to here which teammate he blames for another humiliation at the hands of an "untalented team". I think Zo is going to get it.
What is our expected health status?

Re: Well it's finally here
If we win this series, I REALLY hope we dont get the "pistons are a fluke, they won because of injuries" crap again like we did last year. Injuries are a part of the playoffs for every team including a few of the Pistons. Hopefully Heat and Pistons fans can look forward to a crazy series.
If Shaq doesnt play the first game, I actually think the pressure will be on us. We beat them down without Shaq in the regular season but Wade has just been insane in the playoffs without Shaq and we are going to have some real pressure to be the only team so far that can shut him down. I hope Prince does as good a job on Wade as he has done all season.

If Shaq is out, it really becomes 1-on-5; Wade vs. the Pistons. Should be an interesting battle.
Also, watchout for the 'Silent Assassin' aka Eddie Jones.

Re: Well it's finally here
The whole injury excuse is only valid to a point, Tay and Rip have been injured through this last series and we still managed to prevail. Even though Shaq may still be injured? they have 11 guys behind him and we cant take them for granted even if Shaq is out.

Re: Well it's finally here
Life will definitely be easier is Shaq is not 100%, but Zo certainly would not be a backup center on most teams in the league.
I spent most of the season, like most other people, thinking it would be Miami/Detroit in the ECF, but I think I made a mistake in comparing Miami to the Lakers of last year. There are some big similarities, obviously, but the biggest difference is that Wade is not the selfish player that Kobe is. I think that Wade will be more willing to dish the ball off if he is not getting his shots, unlike Kobe. That is the part that scares me about the Heat.
I still think the Pistons have a great chance of beating them, but I don't think it will be nearly as easy as beating the Lakers last year.

Re: Well it's finally here
If Shaq is injured that's not our problem. I don't care if he's not 100%. One of the many traits that makes a great basketball player great is longevity. It's gonna be a good series and the better team will win. I have faith in the Pistons but Miami is a good team. For what it's worth though I have Detroit in my bracket.

Re: Well it's finally here
That's the first series where i don't see fans trash talk before game 1 starts...
IMO both teams respect one another a lot and are kinda scared of the potential the other team has. gonna be the same for the west finals... and the same for the nba finals... yepppp the NBA is THAT good this year, the most entertaining I've seen it since the Jordan days.
Enjoy the game and scream your *** off.

Re: Well it's finally here
I am so pumped! Heat and Piston fans everywere are on edge. Its going to be great, but reading some posts about if Shaq is out it'll be 5-on-1. I disagree, yes Wade can(and will) do friggin amazing, but have guys followed us as of late? Damon Jones is the best 3pt shooter in the L, and Rip and Chaunc are gonna have their hands full(the guard matchup's are going to be great!) Also, what about Zo? Did you guys forget what he did so far, you might not like him, but you have to respect him(dont ask Jersey fans that, they'll just cry about it and call him a punk) O, Udonis Haslem anyone? I know he's not on Sheeds level, but he'll give him a few problems on the boards. And with Dools off the bench(who has been solid all playoffs long) I feel great with our bench. But if Shaq isnt there, I still think every game will go down to the finish. We get to see what happens when you put two great teams with no stop in them, together. So Piston fans, good luck to you all. And no matter who wins this series, I ALWAYS pull for the East, so if its the Pistons or my Heat, I know the East will bring home the ship.

Re: Well it's finally here
I respect the Pistons a great deal. They are a very talented, complete team. This series is highly likely to go 6-7 games and it should be a fun ride. May the better team win.
